9/25: NFL STILL Digging The Hole Deeper Against Brady

LOL! The headline should have been "NFL Source to WFAN Carton: "We are a bunch of idiots!"

Every legal expert has said that the odds that the appeals court hearing this case in 2015 is negligible. The odds of the the NFL being able to get Judge Berman's decision is a long shot. Just to get one of those things to happen would take incredible luck. Getting the appeals court to hear this case before the season is over AND overturn the Berman decision seems about as likely as me winning Powerball while being eaten by a shark that is getting hit by lightning.

Some things just don't change. Unnamed NFL sources up to their usual games.

Hey, this may be the same unnamed source who told Stephen A Smith that the NFL welcomes Brady taking the NFL to court because he would regret it and he will not like what comes out of the process.

I think there is such a culture of delusional arrogance in the NFL office that all these issues turn into huge disasters for the league.

I think the key phrase is "in his mind."

To me, there's no doubt that there's very little in anyone's mind who works for the NFL League office.

I don't know if 660 is full of crap and they made up a source or if there really is a source, and the source is full of crap.

It just doesn't make sense. This appeal is not exactly taking the expedited route that the original filing took. Heck, it took the league a couple weeks just to file their appeal.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Kessler could easily manipulate timetables with the court to ensure this goes to the offseason.

BTW, it shows how friggin two faced Boomer is. He goes on Boston radio and kisses the Pats' arses. But in this clip, he said:

“What this person doesn’t realize,” WFAN host Boomer Esiason responded, “(is) that they all felt the same way prior to Judge Berman’s ruling. But what they didn’t know is that Judge Berman was going out to The Hamptons to hang out with (Patriots owner) Bob Kraft.

(My note, what people especially the haters refuse to acknowledge that John Mara was at the same party and a chance encounter at a party AFTER the ruling doesn't mean anything)

"They didn't count on the judge legislating from the bench."

If I remember correctly when he went on Toucher and Rich, he agreed with the Berman verdict and the league overreached.

Keep in mind the source is not identified as being from the league office:
On Friday’s “Boomer and Carton” program, WFAN host Craig Carton said that he was with a “very influential person in the NFL” on Thursday. Carton said the person told him “there’s no doubt in his mind” that Brady will serve a four-game suspension this season after the NFL’s appeal is heard.
Lots of room for interpretation there. Personally, I have been particularly impressed by what some owners have said.

Regardless:

NFL didn't ask for expedited appeal, so we will wait a long time. #Patriots fans have nothing to fear this season about #Brady's suspension

The only way the NFL is going to get an expedited hearing is if they prove they are damaged in some way if their case isn't heard quickly. They won't be able to prove that. Odds of them getting an expedited hearing is slim.

I think the NFL filed it's appeal at the deadline.

An NFL source is probably just a blowhard owner or GM who doesn't really care enough about the case to have read any of the documents involved and is a Goodell yes-man. 90% of the people on this forum are more informed about this case than are your typical NFL executives.

Given its record, I'm convinced the NFL has little idea how the judicial system works. That's what happens when you are advised by disbarred lawyers.

Even assuming it gets expedited (which I don't see happening), it's still a 2016 case. And then, even assuming the Appeals Court rules in favor of the NFL, all that means is it gets remanded back to Berman for a legal ruling on all the claims he didn't even bother addressing. Best case for the NFL is probably a suspension in 2017.

Something to consider is I think the league is in fact allowed to launch a "new" investigation and suspend him again.
