One more point. Our red zone offense is going to be unstoppable with Gronk and Chandler. Coach McD is going to have alot of fun with that.
That was an awesome crossing route on the Chandler TD.

I have to sign off for the night. Thank you all for another good game and good football talk. I look forward to another season with all of you and the team we all love. Here's to improvement and continued excellence. Let the world believe what they want. We know better.

  • O-Line, including Andrews, was a pleasant surprise, although I think Cannon could have come off the double team to block the blitzing safety on the Brady's sack.
  • Lewis did great. Some nice catches, and some nice runs. The fumble's not good-will have to watch that going forward. I put the failed screen pass in the 4th quarter on Brady, who seemed to overthrow, but of course, I don't know if the intended route was run.
  • Dobson and Amendola were almost non existent.
  • Brady, Edelman, and Gronk just picked off where they left off last year
  • Loved the TE crossing route on the Chandler TD.
  • DL and LB's did not put much pressure on the Pittsburgh QB. As one point I was wondering if Collins was even in the game.
  • Running defense was poor, with a loss of contain on sweeps.
  • Worried about Easly. Fitz on Comcast said he showed a lot of potential but was built out of spare parts from J.D. Drew.
  • DB's gave up some passes but were close on many of them which required accurate passes made possible by lack of a pass rush.
  • To me, the OL was a pleasant surprise and the DL a disappointment.

I'm pretty sure we ran a lot of 4-2-5, so no surprised we got ran on quite a bit. Plus first game of season, defense always needs to adjust, and we lost 4 starters from last year. They will be fine.

Gronk in his 2nd year removed from ACL injury + Edelman in his third year as a full time starter are a different version of Moss/Welker. What a duo.

I think if you'd subtract Gronk, Edelman, and Lewis' yards tonight, you'd be left with about 30 yards. Pretty one demensional in who we gave it to, but it flourished tonight.

Having Edelman in a PPR league is sweet btw. ;)

One thing that worth a mention. I reviewed the active roster and noticed that 30%
And perhaps a small amount of ground on Manning even before he retires.

Although that will be tough, as it is a REGULAR SEASON stat. :)
There's only one stat that matters and Brady is tied with two others at the top.

Wouldn't that be three dimensional?

Eh why fix something that's working they couldn't stop it

Supafly, I don't know if you're around tonight homie, but our boy Andrews had a good night!

All the credit goes to you and @PP2.

I thought he'd definitely make the PS, but I didn't envision him as a starter. Perhaps the injury to Wendell thrust him into the lineup? I also believe the Stork situation may have helped his cause on the 53, but who knows?

Either way, great move by BB to call him a couple of times during the draft. Just brilliant! Couldn't be more pleased. I also thought Kline and the two rookie guards played well.

0-1 for Pittsburgh

…*****es.

You should hear the whining about the headsets and trying to "cheat" to make them jump by the goal line. The suggestion from Tomlin in the presser just got them going even more.

It was actually on the news station here tonight, with the broadcasters embellishing the truth, of course. About 95% of their fanbase sickens me. I actually hate them even more than the NYJ. I'm totally serious.

There are supposed to be rules against making false accusations against another team. Probably doesn't apply when the Pats are the accused.

What everyone seems to forget is that the NFL is in charge of the game day communications. It has nothing to do with the home team, and there are many stadiums where the headsets go out, which is why Tomlin quickly avoided the question by stating "I'm just talking about tonight's game."

Even Belichick said that they lose their signals just about every game. I'm guessing the league fixes it permanently after this.

I'd like to see more Chandler and DA. Cant have JE and Gronk working like that all season. And does Dobson want to be in this league? Where the fak did he disappear to?

His route running looked funny the couple of times that I focused on him. Lots of jukes and stutter steps and not much running, but maybe it was just his job to keep the deep field open for other guys on those plays. Would have liked a stronger run after his one catch, but it's all splitting hairs when Gronk and Edelman are so automatic. There's not much room for anyone else to get the ball

The TD to Brown in garbage time was a let down, but looking at the replay, Butler had perfect position, he just flubbed/mistimed the swat when the ball got into his area. Maybe he's just not used to the velocity/power that Ben throws the ball with? I feel that if he can combine that great positioning with improved timing to deflect/intercept the ball he could really mature into that #1 corner role.

Agreed. He was looking for the ball but just missed it. I think if the game was on the line, he makes that play.

To me that win was about perfect. If you could script a game with the sole purpose of pissing off a whiny fan base that is as close as youll get. I can picture all the steeler fans pulling their hair out at the scobee misses and the poor situational management, especially considering it came against us. I love it. Even the last garbage td was fine it most likely just pissed them off even more "NOW you get it into the end zone!!!" looool

That said, our front 7 and defense in general has a long way to go. You cant base a whole lot off week 1 , im sure even in 1 months time it will look alot dofferent let alone by seasons end. Not too wworried.

All but flawless offensively. Aside from the usual awesomeness, i was very relieved with the interior ol which was obv an area of concern. And dion lewis, wow. Not sure how much load he can handle but he can be a major weapon.

Was it just me or has there never been a more amped up opening night.

Yeah, we talked about it and I know that's how you felt about him. I still feel slightly different. I think he would have made the team even without the injuries. That obviously does not mean you're wrong and we'll never know for sure. But what I saw last night was encouraging. An UDFA stepped in on opening night in that atmosphere and played on par with Stork. I'm certainly not suggesting in any way he's better than Stork, nor am I saying I'd rather have him in over Stork. I guess I'm just saying if he can perform that way, then we'll be fine until Stork reclaims his spot. And if Stork really does become one of those curious injury prone players, then I am at least hopeful that we can mold Andrews into something.

Not everybody blooms immediately. Though I know he is not nearly the same athlete or playing the same position, but look at Hightower. There is not ONE person on this board that would want to see him gone. But that wasn't the tune I was hearing after his first season. Again, not the greatest example (one is a first rounder and the other undrafted), but I think anyone who is at least trying to look at it through an unbiased lens will see the point I'm trying to make nonetheless.

The O-Line was not really an issue overall last night so I'm encouraged. I guess the true test will come against better teams that play with more discipline and guys like #87, OF ALL PEOPLE, is not running through the secondary like he's invisible to the defense. That's part of why Brady did not get hit as much. There were gaping holes in the defense and Gronk was not even covered on the first TD he caught. LOL Better teams will not allow that. The Patriots ran the same play to start the game three times in a row . . . a simple short curl route to Edelman twice and Lewis once. I doubt that will happen against better teams. Buffalo will be a better barometer with Rex's scheme and way better (and more experienced) personnel. Let's see how Andrews and the boys hold up against the likes of Darius and those overload blitzes. I suspect Andrews will be a topic of discussion between us for as long as he is playing and I ALWAYS welcome your opinion.
