Wells and the NFL had a hard ons to recall MAc and JJ again to explain deflate references. So why didn't they do it at the arbitration ? One big reason I think is that it wouldn't be in their interrogation room, where they could treat them as hostile witnesses. And of course edit what gets reported. While now it would mean you woud be hearing a lot of we knew nothing , and yes Brady gave the rule and we followed it. So I guess like most other points the word "deflator" was just used by Wells as smoke and he knows it really wouldn't stand up to cross exam .
Why didn't NFLPA call them, cause godell heard all they have to say already, and it didn't make a difference, and they had only 4 hours-which I think was the main reason

The NFL's story is in essence:
  • They've decided what a couple of text messages mean.
  • It's incumbent upon the accused (Pats, Brady) to prove otherwise.
Where that starts to go off the rails is:
  • McNally has already denied the NFL's interpretation.
  • What the NFL is demanding is that the accused produce McNally to deny it again.
Huh???

Also, it goes completely off the rails because:
  • The NFL is interpreting that as evidence of an ongoing scheme to deflate footballs ...
  • ... but has never suggested how the deflation occurred, except for one game at which it claims the process for deflating the footballs was unique to that game ...
  • ... and for which measurements show that the deflation, if any, was unsuccessful.

You have to keep in mind here that the NFL had a conclusion, and bringing in more witness would have only muddied that conclusion.. so they chose not to bring in Jastremski and McNally as they may have shed some light on what actually happened and not contributed to the narrative that was forged to support the conclusion.

The only conclusion that they could not make stick was that BB was behind this nefarious plot as he was their intended target...

INOW the NFL was never interested in the truth, they were interested in finally getting back at arrogant BB and Tom Brady became 'collateral damage"..

(just thinking out loud): If their intent was to go after BB, then why didn't Wells point the affair in his direction. I mean, we know Brady probably has more to do with football prep and BB stays away (unless a matter comes to his attention). But, they've been making all this S#!T up, so why no go the full distance?

As for no calling McNally/Jastremski, the NFL was going to find something to complain about to put a negative spin on things. if they were there, it would have been not credible/lied/something else...

They didn't call them because the so called damning text which was sent in May, “deflate and give somebody that jacket.”makes no sense in terms of deflating footballs. It makes perfect sense if you're talking to a slightly rotund friend who is trying to lose weight and give up old clothes....

According to Tanguay on WEEI yesterday, whatever the reason was that the NFL didn't call Jastremski and McNally, it makes him suspicious that Brady deflated footballs

Yeah, I know, that makes absolutely no sense. But it's coming from a guy who really really wants to believe that Brady is guilty

I said it on PFT. The reason why the League didn't call them is because they were afraid they wouldn't crack. If they didn't crack, then it would look bad for the League. By not calling them, Goodell could spin it as Brady and the NFLPA had something to hide by not calling them.

I think Goodell felt McNally and Jastremski not testifying was far more damaging to Brady than if they did.

I think they wanted BB and I think BB thought they were coming after him but after seeing his phone and emails they had nothing.

He makes zero sense. My god.

I swear he is on lithium.

Yeah, not too much is made out of the NFL/Wells having all employee phones. As far as the world is concerned, the NFL only looked into 2 phones.

It comes from someone with an IQ under 70.

There was no smoke or fire coming from BB... from the onset he said he did not even know about air pressure of footballs or the procedures governing such. The NFL misjudged that...

You can only bend the narrative so much...

Don't listen to Tanguay is the easy answer..

We should all be suspicious of Tanguay.. he is the epitome of nothingness in the world of local broadcast sports..

I still don't get why no one in the media has tracked them down.

Yep and be talked about the condition of the balls that they use in practice. His thinking was that maybe the practice balls slipped into the pool of gameday balls.

Totally on the defensive from Day 1

McNally lives in Amherst NH. He's not hard to miss. Not sure where Jaz lives.

I believe both are under a confidentiality agreement with the NEP and cannot talk to anyone outside the organization about this investigation.

If that's true then it's a smart move by the Patriots. The ESPN spin machine has been on a tear with misinformation and straight out lies. If they got hold of these 2 guys who knows how bad they would twist up whatever they said

A buddy of mine lives in Amherst who has a friend who knows MCNally has been told that when asked about this BS, McNally politely says, "Sorry, can't really talk about it."

I don't know for certain he is under one but it certainly sounds like it.

Actually, "deflate and give somebody that jacket" was sent by The Deflator during a ROAD GAME. That text completely undercuts the NFL's interpretation of the word "deflate". It's really a point that deserves more scrutiny.

Remember when Wells and the NFL were tearing Brady/Patriots a new one, because they wouldn't make McNally available one more time? If they ONLY had that ONE MORE INTERVIEW, they could crack the case?

Well, if that was true all they needed was to call him to the stand for 15 minutes during the appeal. The NFL did not call him. That proves that this was another ruse by the NFL.
