Miami has 5 days to match.

Looks like Rex is simply going to add highly skilled players who can get open no matter who the QB is tossing them balls.

https://twitter.com/...973626198183937 The #Bills' offer to Clay is for 5 yrs and $38 million. More than $20 million guaranteed.

Buffalo's offer to Clay includes $24.5m over the first two years and a $10m roster bonus at the start of next league year. Big numbers.

Smart of Bills to inflate Clay's 2016 cap number. Suh's cap charge for '16 is $28.6 million. And Tannehill's '16 option costs $16.2 million.

Sorry, Albert Breer, but how the hell is it "smart" of Buffalo to pay Clay that kind of money? The guy had 605 receiving yards last year. Good grief, that's WR franchise money two years in a row. Wth?

No one here should ever argue about Amendola's contract again...omg.

I heard that they plan to change their name in the near future

I'm starting to wonder if Idzik was the problem with the Jets. After they sign Clay, Rex will have plunged the Bills into cap Hell in just a few weeks. That team has some good players, but depth is going to be a major issue.

Wow this is great news for Pats fans. Bills and Fins in a bidding war over a good not great TE, the "winner" getting the privilege of overpaying him by millions?

And as collateral damage, to make cap space for this offer, Buffalo had to kick Scott Chandler loose... which was to our direct and immediate benefit.

I think it's a bad deal but I think Breer is referring about a poison pill structure to keep n Miami from matching.

How much better is he than Chandler? Can Clay block?

I like Clay as a player, but not that much. Way too much money. But I think if I was Miami, I would want Clay more than Cameron.

I wouldn't categorize that structure as a poison pill, the contract is definitely front loaded, but it's not a poison pill. A poison pill would be something like if there was a provision in the contract that the entire contract becomes guaranteed if Clay plays more than 4 games a year in Miami...usually poison pills are only meant to prevent the other team from matching, without affecting the drafter of the contract with a poison pill provision.

Regardless, there is nothing smart about paying an average/above average TE anywhere close to $8mil/yr. Clay is a $5 mil/yr at best.

A nifty but somewhat pedestrian guy. He just won the lottery.

Ridiculous.

Another team going crazy in an attempt to "narrow the gap". Buffalo now has Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin, LeSean McCoy and Charles Clay on offense to go with a top DL ... and no QB worth a damn. And they are throwing money around like crazy.

the fish just signed Cameron they did not need to offer that much to get him. the kid has talent and a big up side but i don't think he is worth 5 million more per year then the guy they let the pats sign a few days ago

Their forum members are in a state of glee ... they just want to go to the playoffs ... damn the torpedoes.

I can't say that I blame them for thinking that way ... they will get there and Carpenter will shank one.

this seems like an insane amount of money being spent. how far under the cap where they?

I love Charles Clay but not for 209348023948023984023984 million.

That is pretty stupid money for a te who isn't that good if a blocker, and certainly is not the receiving that of graham, gronk, etc.
