The Patriots were tried and convicted in the court of public opinion based solely on "leaked reports" that stated our footballs were 2 PSI lower and the Colt's footballs showed no change. The thing is, you can't even know this. You didn't record any PSIs. So what are we supposed to believe, that Walt Anderson has an idetic memory and just knows from 48 footballs, which ball was at which PSI? How can the "source" know the PSI difference without a baseline?
The phrase/word "baseline" has been something that I've been referring to, and obviously had some people confused.
There was still a baseline test when Walt Anderson measured the balls with a pressure gauge and concluded that they correctly fell within the approved range, so it will be up to the investigators and NFL to determine what they feel is acceptable or not.
As far as the court of public opinion, the only way that's likely to change is if the NFL issues a complete apology and exonerates them with zero wrongdoing. I'm skeptical as to whether or not that will ever happen.
