That Irsay. What a character guy.

Can't something be done about him? Shouldn't he be in a substance abuse program at this point?

He was caught DUI with enough drugs to be considered a distributor and he got a slap in the wrist by the NFL. Nothing will happen to him until he kills someone.

Florio is saying Pagano knew, a reporter in Indianapolis says he didn't.

If Florio told me it was Tuesday today I'd have to go check a calender. Ignore anything that hack says, especially when the Patriots are involved.

If Florio told me it was Tuesday I would assume it was Wednesday. I'm a Patriots fan and Belichick has is all a step ahead of everyone else.

Did anyone else get to see the movie where Pacino plays Belichick and Keanu Reeves gets to bang Charlie Theron?

I can't believe we are up to 63 pages on the air in a ball. Who would have thought?!

I very much like my neighbors to the south but this culture of even the hint of scandal is eaten hook line and sinker. CBS, CNN, FOX...all the major media outlets with their incessant bombardment of potential wrong-doing drumming up speculation and drawing out the hate that our great team has festering in other fan bases. It is a great business model.

I am guessing that they will be testing the balls and the majority of them will be just fine. There may be one slightly off due to weather or whatever but that is really going to be very marginal. That potential result would be the same for teams in a Northeast or Northwest environment.

Then it will come out, IF that happens...'ohh, the Patriots are cheaters'...when the reality would be it was off by a extremely minimal amount but since a number has been set and it theoretically could be minimally exceeded then the media will take it from there and incite more hate.

The speed limit on the highway is 110 but if I go 111 then I am speeding. Send out the cop shop and investigate! What a waste of resources.

The refs handled multiple balls and they took one out of circulation, to my knowledge from sources I trust... ONE ball. Now everyone is grabbing their torches.

Indy, you got beat, plain and simple. Your team has a long way to go but I think you got a great QB to try and get you there.

For now, get some rest and get better in the off-season.

Enough....

And the longer the NFL decides to let it fester without a clear and public finding, the worse it will be.

"Oh, it's the Patriots? Let them dangle throughout the Super Bowl and after".

unfounded claims of cheating need to be handled the same way as cheating

in an industry steeped in PR, the errant whistleblowers need to be punished
Absolutely. I posted this same thing on profootball talk. I would go after the organization (Colts). This ridiculousness can't continue.

Pagano claims he knows nothing about it. They can't keep their story straight.
He's just another f###### hypocritical, lying crybaby. What else would one expect from an ex-Raven?

What is bizzaro world to me is why does the commissioner's office carry Jim Irsay's water and abuse Bob Kraft? Can someone tell me what each owner has done in the past to warrant their respective treatments?
Because Kraft is a class act that will comply with the Commissioner's wishes and not raise a stink. Irsay, on the other hand, is not a class act and would rant a rave about anything and everything. And that makes all the difference.

Irsay watches the kids for Goodell when he's on the road.

I agree with that. I retract whatever I said about Pagano, since he's apparently involved in the chain of events as far as accusation of wrong-doing, but then he immediately disclaims anything or any knowledge about what happened.

This chain of notification allegedly happened at halftime or prior to it. One wonders if Pagano chose not to say anything about in order not to look stupid, because in the third quarter, his team got outscored 21-0, which kinda makes the whole thing moot.

Here is my take.
We all know BB does everything for a reason. I do not believe he blatantly cheats. I do believe he knows the rules very well and looks for that coveted "edge" by following the rule book to its letter. He couldnt care less about any spirit of the rule but he knows other coaches do. Hence, the "edge". Makes sense right?

And that is what happened with Spygate. Bill took the "during a game" clause and ran with it. Unfortunately the league wasn't subtle in letting him know that the clause wasn't meant to be taken at face value. Which is a farce but that is another topic.

This is Bill's MO. High risk high reward. I don't particularly care for it because of the obvious grief this team has faced over the years and if he is trying to make a point about the rules then there are other ways to do that...but there's no doubt it works.

So IF the report is true that there were multiple footballs below the minimum...then I have no doubt the footballs complied with the weight specifications at the time "they were made available" and hence compliance with the rule. Most likely inflated to the absolute minimum by rule and for the balls in question eventually fell under the minimum by natural means. It's not likely someone had a "needle" ... that can easily be proven by video evidence and I doubt someone would be able to do it and keep the deflation undetectable....and it isn't Bills MO at all to do such a thing.

It is just not typical Bill to sneak around and pull a fast one on the other team.

The Irsay family has been in the NFL forever. It's the Maras and Rooneys without the class those families have exhibited over the years.

Kraft was instrumental in getting the CBA done in principle a few years ago, averting a strike. He's one of the best owners in the NFL. But here's the thing - seriously rich people generally have enormous egos and so all of them have to be appeased to an extent. Keeping the trust of the owners is one thing Goodell does pretty damn well.

Did anyone see the today show? I just seen the "coming up" about deflate gate. ..where Matt Lauer said something like "yea like the score was so close one thing would make a difference" or something close to that. Didn't get to see when they actually talked about it what was said. Anyone know what was said? Can't believe this made it to today show, hoping they talked about it for the joke it is.

I agree but I don't think there is anything wrong with inflating to the absolute minimum in a rainy, fairly cold game. I'm sure a lot of teams do it, especially teams that play outdoors in the cold weather. It just takes an organization like the Colts and an owner like Irsay to call foul and demand an investigation. He should be ashamed of the grief he is causing a fellow owner and organization in what should be a happy time.

So, Jim irsay, how's that rape charge on one of your player going?

love the fact that every game the Cheatriots win there is an asterisk by it! Gotta suck being a fan and not being able to enjoy it!
Gotta suck having a QB that has a shrinkage issue in big games ...

I'm gonna take a guess that the pressure gauges the NFL uses have a narrower margin of error than the tire gauges you buy at AutoZone. :p

You know, seriously, I'll bet they're not. Because I don't think anyone gives a crap. Anyone familiar with a football can tell on first grip if it's under-inflated or too pumped. And it really makes such little difference, I doubt they care.

Really, I doubt they freaking care. Because you KNOW if the football is at 12.5psi and the temp drops, it's below 12.5psi. This isn't like corking a bat - the difference in a tiny variance here or there is negligible.

With the evil trio of Polian, Manning and Dungy gone I was becoming more neutral to the Colts. Not anymore, scumbag organization.

I agree but the problem is that it will never happen.

Only 1300+ posts and 76,000+ veiws in 44 hours? I guess this topic doesn't mean that much to you people.;)

I think Goodell remains because he's a useful idiot. You never even heard Tagliabue's name. You can't go a week without Goodell screwing something up and then going on camera and smiling. Its like seeing your kid scribble with crayons on the wall and then he looks at you with pride at what he's done because he doesn't even understand.

What do we have, Patriots, Saints supposed bounty, Cowboys and Redskins salary cap, "rule emphasis." Every drug testing case that gets challenged they lose, when the refs make a laughable call, the commissioner backs them up with a more laughable fine. The guy has the Midas touch for turning everything into ****. And when something easy does come across his desk like Ray Rice, he completely screws it up.

But he's an equal opportunity screw up. Idiots are more trustworthy, they can be manipulated in a way that smart people can't. Goodell is that competitive edge for owners, because he can be used as a tool to bludgeon their enemies. Goodell is a tool, and as long as he remains more useful to more than half the owners we are stuck with that dull edged tool.
