When I spoke to Richard Sherman in June, he voiced that concern about the Patriots over-complicating it compared to the Seahawks.

Sherman: "Putting a lot of pre-snap reads and all that kind of takes away from his instincts, and I hope they don’t do that."

Sherman (cont): "That’s what allowed us to be successful in Seattle was a lack of checks and the lack of reads and things like that."

Well IF the pariots were to trade Browner... what would be fair and make sense?

For a draft pick? low 3rd
For a player? Decent OT (not sure what is up with Solder) or a good Guard would both make sense and improve the team.

I doubt we'll get anyone better than Solder or Vollmer for Browner. I'm thinking more like a 4th round pick, if it comes to that. That's best case. Browner has now lost his starting spot in Seattle, served a suspension, and now reportedly can't grasp the defense in New England. His value just isn't that high.

I remember a time when our cornerbacks were allowed to just go out and play. Sure wish we could return to that.

I agree with this sentiment. We have the talent out there to just let them go out and play instead of over complicating it.

Well usually I would agree but Solder has been SO BAD this year. He is one of the worst starting LTs in the NFL right now going by the numbers. Maybe he is hurt or something but I wouldn't think we could not find someone to play better right now the way he is playing.

When was that again? You think Ty Law and Rodney Harrison just freelanced out there?

Really doubt that we would get a 3rd round pick for a 30 year old corner that isn't among the top in the league.

Not sure I'm ready to concede that at this stage, but regardless my argument is more that Browner's value is low, not that Solder is all that tough to upgrade at his present level of play (which was improved against Cincinnati, by the way).

Would you give away a low 3rd rounder for Browner? He's 30 years old......been suspended........the league is calling holding penalties on CBs all the time......under contract for 3 years. I know I wouldn't give up a 3rd rounder for him.

Yikes. That doesn't sound good. I kind of figured when he wasn't activated for the Cincy game that maybe it was due to his performance in practice. I think it'll be tough for him to contribute much to this team if he hasn't learned the defense by now.

Let's offer him to the Jets for a 1st or 2nd. Their secondary is in desperate need for help.

Rodney was actually allowed to freelance quite a bit, everything being considered. More than any other safety we've had since BB was here.

We're really going from "Browner wasn't seen during stretching" to "What could we get for him in trade" already?

Yep, and that he is worthless now because he supposedly can't learn the playbook

I will set aside, for the moment, the possibility that Browner is incapable of pre-snap reads and Belichick is an inept coach who is asking him do things he cannot do. Browner brings an attitude and toughness to the secondary that nobody else has, and that could elevate the play of everyone. He hasn't played in over a month. I look forward to seeing him when he is ready.

Wouldn't really blame it on BB if he doesn't want to change his whole defense to a "just go out and play" defense just because of Browner. Revis is a player you build around. Browner absolutely is not. I think Browner is extremely overrated on this forum because of some highlights with hard hits from him. Yes he hits hard. Probably the hardest hitting corner in the league. But as a cover corner he is far from the top.

I have said a trade is unlikely already but if they were to do one Browner would be the player it looks like.

I don't think they want to carry 6 CBs generally and if they decide to bring it to 5 that means either someone has to get cut or someone has to get traded. Butler would be the guy they should cut but that don't seem interested in doing it. That being the case either they carry 6 or one of probably Ryan/Browner goes. Right now Browner makes the most sense to me in the event they want to keep 5 and don't want to risk losing Butler. That is all I am saying.
