My heart stopped ! - Hit below Tom Brady's knee by SD's Antonio Garay

Sorry to bring back the torture, but who in the hell wouldn't consider that a lunge/dive/intent to injure? This isn't two players trying to get lower than the other.

Looks like some kind of knee-eating land shark! Plays like this need to carry SIGNIFICANT fines, no matter WTF Ray Lewis has to say about it.

Does anyone have a video of the hit?

Re: My heart stopped !

Honestly, the SD defender should be heavily fined and maybe even suspended for that hit. Clear, deliberate intent to inflict a career-threatening injury.

Meanwhile, Dunta Robinson's "kill shot" of Maclin Sunday night was also unacceptable. Now today I read (Vote: After seeking 'kill shot' was fine to Falcons' Robinson warranted?):

'Falcons coach Mike Smith said he considered Robinson's hit legal. He did not alter his opinion on Monday after having the chance to review video.
"That's the way we teach it," Smith said on Sunday night.'

I hereby propose that Mike Smith be fined $100,000 for teaching it that way.

Another great win and another great game from Tommy. I don't know if this was mentioned in any thread but my heart missed a beat when Tommy got hit hard below the knees in the third quarter I think. On tv it looked bad, and why no flags thrown on that ? Are they allowed to hit the QB below the knees ? Man i was worried for a minute. Got to tip your hats to the Coaches because I thought we played a great game. Cheers. Abdul
I don't think many people know how close we came to a complete disaster on that play.

To answer your question, I thought that should have been a 15 yard penalty since, appropriately enough, itwas a perfect example of the "Tom Brady Rule" which makes it illegal for a defensive player to lunge at the QB's knees when he was down on the ground.

The Garay dive at Brady's legs was as bad, if not worse than Brock's dive at R-Burger's knees.

Dirty plays by both players with no intention to affect the play other than to inflict pain. You can generally tell when someone is attempting to make a play or making a bone head wanker move.

I'm generally OK with incidental contact in the NFL but the NFL needs to make examples of Garay and Brock.

When are fines carried out? Dummy Robinson already got fined for his helmet-to-helmet contact, but nothing (yet) on the low Brady hit?

Maybe Reiss can give some insight on the legality of that play.

Didn't see THIS posted yet...Brady knee hit...

I cannot wait to see what the NFL says about this.....

That looks just like the hit Kemo Von Olindorfer? put on Carson Palmer in the playoff game about four or five years ago. I wouldn't be shocked if the NFL does nothing. Its Brady and the Pats, not Manning and the Colts.

There was a play earlier on where someone was at Brady's feet right after Tom got rid of it, and they were taking him to the ground by twisting his leg at the knee. Then they dive at Tom's knees completely untouched. People argued that Suggs was blocked into Tom (he wasn't), but Garay's blocker isn't in sight. The Andre Carter penalty was icing on the cake with the zebras.

But I thought Brady and the Pats got all the calls. Guess not.

In any case no penalty and no fine, don't be surprised for this to continue.

Goodell is an idiot.

the short gif and pic in this thread don't show just how egregious the hit was.

the defender was on his feet and could have easily come at Brady high. there was no one blocking his way to Brady and no one blocked the defender forward either. he simply chose, rather than to go at Brady high, to dive down low for his legs.

it actually stood out to me how clear the situation was. usually there are bodies flying around that defenders are trying to fight through and people knocking into defenders but there was none of that on this play. the guy had a clear, unobstructed path while on his feet and still went at Brady's knees.

it was about as blatant as it gets and the refs missed it.

Not only did the refs miss it, but the media has completely missed it as well. I'm just not seeing any discussion of this play in the media at all. Granted I can't follow every single outlet so please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

We were a couple millimeters away from losing Brady for the season and no one outside this forum seems to give a damn.

If there is nothing from the league by Wednesday on that ridiculously illegal and intent to injure hit, then I would hope that Kraft and the front office would lobby for the 'commish's' removal. No action taken on a hit like that (let's not leave the officials out of accountability either) would be unacceptable from any standpoint.

this is the 3rd thread of this. I started #1 and ppl dont look.

#2 creator "Joker" made an honest mistake unlike you #3:eek:
