For the record Belichick said he can only discuss Irene when she is here.
Old?......yea,I remember "Carol" in 1954.I was 4 yrs old and a giant tree fell on our 3rd floor balcony......FYI....They retired the name "carol" after this storm.....Now THAT'S,a hurricane!:rocker:
people make light of hurricanes, they are powerful beasts and the longer they last the more damage.

My wife and I are now actually discussing taking the kids and getting out of Maryland for the weekend and staying with family up in NE. Hell, Cat 1 is better than Cat 2.......
.......not to mention the possibility of aftershocks down here during the hurricane.
well you're just plain old then. i'm merely "internet" old.
i swear, every once in a while i read someone talking about their childhood and it's about britney spears or 9-11 and i feel ancient.
Some quick notes from a person who's lived through many Florida hurricanes...
Category 2 is usually nothing to panic about, especially if you don't live directly on the shore. Unless there are weak trees hovering over your home, you shouldn't generally have any problems. Just be sure that you've got enough drinking water and that you clean/fill up your bathtubs as well.
If you've got a generator, test it early and be sure you've got gasoline for it.
Category 3 is usually where people start to pack up in real numbers. Not everyone leaves, but it seems to be the category that gets the exodus started.
Slow moving hurricanes suck, because the flooding screws everything up and makes the roads dangerous, even if there's not a lot of wind damage.
I don't know if any of that will be helpful, but take it for what it's worth.
