TMQ, in his infinite wisdom, knows how to stop Moss and Owens

Does he even have a football background as a player or coach?

Does he even have a football background as a player or coach?

Doesn't he coach his kid's pee wee football team or something? Based on his kid's success, he thinks the NFL should follow his model of not punting and 'kicking fieldgoals early, but going for it late'.

The Flying Elvii are doing everything to near-perfection, but TMQ continues to think too much credit is going to Brady and his flashy receivers, not enough to the offensive line and defensive front seven. On the night, Brady was never sacked, was hit only once and hurried only once; otherwise, he stood in the pocket as though he was posing for a magazine cover, no rusher even near him. Put Joey Harrington behind New England's great offensive line, and he'd be a star. When New England was on defense, J.P. Losman was sacked four times and hit really hard on three other occasions, despite Buffalo's keeping at least six back to block. Brady's passes were right on the numbers, and Losman's passes were hitting the turf in front of his receivers; superior New England line play was the reason for both outcomes.

Priceless.

Our front office is really dumb.

Just trade Brady to Atlanta for Harringon and a first rounder. We'd free up a lot of cap space and never lose a step in production.

as crazy as he (Easterbrook) is he raises a good point. you need to put at least one man on him. I dont think he means man coverage like a coach would define it. he just means run with the nut till your feet fall off at least then he has to try to break away

I hope Andy Reid doesn't see this column...

Somewhere in **** Jauron's underground bunker...

"Wha...you mean, we could have covered him?

Why didn't we THINK of that???"

Wow, what an embarrassing article.

Ah, Herr Himmlerbrook. The paragon of football ignorance. "Sure, put a man in single coverage on Randy Moss and turn him loose! That'll work great!" Until Moss catches his 6th touchdown, that is. How about instead of blaming the cover-2 because a bad team executes it poorly, you blame THE BAD TEAM FOR EXECUTING IT POORLY. Such a dunce. His ridiculous logic is prevalent everywhere in his stupid columns. Yes, Hollywood is declining because morally ambiguous or even repugnant characters are sometimes portrayed by actors, not because the quality of movies have been heading down the crapper, other forms of entertainment have become more competitive, ticket and concession prices have spiraled upwards and the theater experience has become increasingly bland and annoying, compared to watching movies in the comfort of your own living room on a high-definition TV. Classic Idiotbrook logic! I couldn't read past that point, but I'm sure he mentioned something about blitzing being bad, completing ignoring the context of the plays those blitzes happened in (be sure to mention how the average NFL play goes for 5 yards when the other team is throwing on 3rd and 11 and you blitz, because everyone knows they'd surely be going for NFL average play yardage), followed by crowing about running up the score because it's bad sportsmanship, while oblivious to the fact that these are professionals being paid to compete and that there are multiple competitive advantages to be gained by continuing to play in those situations. Maybe he even remembered to throw in a mention of how the Jews are ruining everything in his perfect little world. That man is such a douchebag, he could prevent yeast infections from coast to coast.

again you're taking him too literal of course JH would not be as good however what he is saying is its easier to be as great as TB has been with the stellar play from the O-line. Put TB in Buff O_line and he'd get killed. thats all he is saying

The Bills' line is far from bad.

Have you forgotten how Brady was sacked 40+ times in 01? Our OL has never been outstanding prior to this year. Brady actually makes'em look better then they are because he simply has by far the best pocket awareness of any QB to ever play the game.

No I agree that he is a far superior QB to anyone in the league. Believe me if I lead you to believe that I think JH is on par with him allow me to appologize. what I am saying is and to use your example in 01 Brady was serviceable now he is other wordly. While he has grown tremendously and has become all of our dreams come true, he has chance to shine because of the great protection he has gotten over the last 4 years (no more than 26 sacks 4 years running). Pocket presence aside, which is Marino like, if you have 4 guys in your face every time you drop back you're screwed I dont care how well you see the field.

Wait a second...

"The soft zone works for disciplined teams such as Indianapolis, but for sketchy teams such as Washington and Buffalo, it seems to promote it's-not-my-job thinking. Hey, he wasn't my man! If the Cover 2 doesn't prevent deep strikes -- and that's supposed to be the big virtue of playing Cover 2 -- then what is being accomplished? Defensive coordinators, pick your best cornerback and tell him: Wherever Moss or Owens goes, you go."

Does he recall that the Patriots played the Redskins too? And Washington DID prevent deep strikes against the Patriots, shutting down Moss as well as any team all season (3 catches, 47 yards). But the Pats demolished them underneath with a steady diet of Welker and Faulk.

p.s. Moss wasn't catching his customary bombs down the sideline against the Bills, either. From the routes he was running you'd think he was a very, very tall Wes Welker!

Are you kidding, lets hope he does and follows it to a tee. By the time he realizes how stupid it is, Moss has 4 Tee's and Stallworth had 3. How bout, just not being so lazy on the soft zone coverage.

Combo of each I think. Mankins & Koppen are playing other-worldly and Matt Light is Matt light, so right there you have a All-Pro line start. However, Kaczur and Neil/Yates/Hochstein (whosever in there) are certainly serviceable and steady guys, but they aren't all pro either. We have a very good line, coupled with an exceptional QB with the best "pocket feel" of {possibly} all time. Of course they are going to make each other look much better then they are.

It's the same across the line. Moss is better because of Brady, Brady is better because of Moss. Ditto Welker, ditto Stallworth. Our run numbers are better because of the pass, etc, etc..... It's all interconnected.

The true essence of a good team, everyone makes the other guy better.

Am I the only one who saw tha Pats running Heath Evans into the line for the entire 4th quarter?????

This guy has no idea what he is talking about. Jam Randy Moss and cover him one on one, great idea, let's talk reach, Moss is 6'5", there isn't a CB over 6' in the league, it would go like this, jam, brush off, high pass, touchdown and repeat!!!

Cleveland double covered Moss and pretty much held him in check, as much as he can be held in check. However, that left Welker and Stallworth (who is great in the open field) in man to man coverage and they killed them.

I agree. I'm all for giving accolades to our OL, but my point is that all this recent "my grandmother could throw 50 TDs behind that Patriots line" talk is ridiculous. Brady has been Brady without a dominant line and now that he has REALLY good protection it's obvious he's gonna be even better. Put Joe Montana behind the 2006 Texans' OL and he would be rather ordinary, which is not to say he is not a fantastic QB.

I just think that with all the weapons and the awesome protection, some mediots are now spinning things in a way that makes it sound like Brady's production is to be expected when you assemble that kind of offensive talent. And this assesment is as wrong as it can be.
