OT: Dallas Police: Talib Shot Himself

Just checked for TX

Class 3 felony if w/o ltc in place w booze.

Class A misdemeanor if he was trashed w a gun- 1yr prison

Class B misdemeanor if it went off in a establishment.-6mo prison.

He sounds screwed but I bet he skates

Maybe before he goes to jail he can ask the judge if he can serve his time in the offseason so he won't miss any games. Since Goodell doesn't see anything wrong with firing a gun in club while intoxicated, the judge probably wont either.

Even if he did have a concealed carry permit, he'd still be facing charges for discharging his weapon in a public setting.

It certainly wouldn't be nearly as severe as discharging without the permit, but worth noting just the same.

no charges will be filed against him.

Dallas police rule Broncos' Aqib Talib shot himself in June shooting, per report

The Dallas police department’s four-month investigation into the June 5 shooting of Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is complete and it has determined that Talib shot himself, according to a WFAA television report that cited sources. The report also stated that no charges would be filed against Talib.

i can't find a copy of the actual report yet. talib says he shot himself outside in a park, so if the dallas PD decided to believe him about that, then there wouldn't be any problem with him being in a club with a firearm.

I find it interesting that the Dallas PD wouldn't consider discharging a firearm in a public setting (accidentally or otherwise) as a worthy enough offense to bring forth charges. Whether he was in a park, a club, etc shouldn't matter, although it's safe to assume that they're using some common sense approach to the investigation and don't wish to pursue the matter any further. I can appreciate that on some level if they feel that no one else was in danger at any point.

Unlike most, I do expect some type of small suspension from the league, although I don't expect it to rival Brady's, that's for sure.

Glad the stupid punk is gone. The eye gouging ***** fits in much better with league's dirtiest defense.

There are still a few unknowns, and those unknowns only matter in relation to severity of punishment under the law. It will be glaring if he isn't suspended for several games, especially as a repeat offender. Also, add to that the NFL angle. With Deflatgate having blown up in Goodell's face, it would seem impossible for him to ignore this.

Firearm safety is no laughing matter, especially around alcohol. You sure not only putting yourself in danger but those around you. That discharge could have struck another person.

Plus he said he was hammered. That's a year in prison. I figured he'd get off

Talib will skate consider all the shenanigans by the Cowboys in the 90's... football players can do no wrong in Texas. Then there are the recent incidents at Baylor..

In Texas they call that "swagger"...

I can't wait to see how they don't suspend him this time. Cannot wait to see the bs excuse.

I like Talib, but you have to be incredibly stupid to shoot yourself

I live in Texas. Carrying a gun into a bar (defined as an establishment that derives 51% or more of its revenue from alcohol) is a felony, even if you have a CHL.

The only way Talib gets suspended over this, is if Goodell forgets that he no longer plays for the Patriots.

I really don't have to state why I posted this, do I?

Talib fires off a gun in a club- Will miss 0 games
Brady does absolutely nothing wrong- 4 games missed

Well, in the NFL league office's eyes (read: not a sane person's eye) Brady was doing something to effect the outcome and integrity of the game. Talib was just being an idiot in a nightclub and did nothing to harm the sport directly.

Talib nearly paralyzes a Carolina receiver in SB: 1 yard penalty (because, you know, the league's top priority is player safety )

Yes hes got to be really emburressed. Get it emburressed!

There's clearly a nefarious pattern here, involving the Patriots.

Plaxico Burress makes a major play in an SB against the Pats and then shoots himself by discharging a firearm in a club in New York.

Aqib Talib spends time on the Pats' roster and then shoots himself by discharging a firearm in a park after possibly carrying said firearm into a club in Dallas.

There is a reasonable expectation to believe that the Patriots were generally responsible for both events. There is little doubt that the penalty should be:
Two first rounders.
$500,000 fine
Two four game suspensions for two random starting players, one on offense and one on defense.
