Many people lose their father and don't become murderers

True.

It might be nice to find out if there was anything that might have gotten him to go to the far end.

For the next guy that thinks about it.

I don't think it matters. It's who he is. He is a killer and circumstances are coincidental.

He's a brutal monster without any conscience and, in my opinion, is not deserving of one ounce of sympathy. I don't think anyone here was making excuses for him or blaming anyone else. Citing things which may have contributed to his development is not excuse-making. I think you may have misunderstood.

At some point, Aaron Hernandez will stop being a story.

Do you remember anyone from the 1960 Pats team?

He might take until 2075 to die in prison - further in the future than this team has existed.

He will truly have gone into oblivion.

1960? LOL, old enough to! Off the top of my head...Ross O'Hanley!!;)

And guess what?

There are other people out there just like him that either haven't been caught yet or got put back out on the streets.
If you think you are insulated from that, you are mistaken.

There was a serial killer up here that was living out of his truck, hanging out at hiking trailheads looking for his next victim. He eventually kidnapped and killed a drive through barista, cut a hole in the ice on a lake and pushed her body under the ice.

After they released the details of the truck he was driving and his MO, my coworker said he saw him when he and his girlfriend went for a hike on a local trail.

What could be more innocent than going for a short hike with your girlfriend?

People will want to remember O'Hanley - those living and with good memories. AH - the organization has already burned his jerseys, etc.

That is accurate. They do get a 1hr of exercise yard time. That all some of these dudes need.

It depends the level of your crimes. However ADX, most of them don't even get communication with anyone besides the faculty. These are people like the Arian brotherhood Gang leader and other extremely dangerous people, who most are doing life terms anyways. They're basically have zero rights in these places. its such a shame how we have to spend so much money on these people. With the rights they have, you're basically a dead man walking.

Honestly, read up on ADX, its some crazy and ****ed up ****.

Taking a page from Sons of Anarchy... if Hernandez was a true Patriot, he would tell the NFL he had something on Belichick that he would only tell Goodell..
..which gets him in the same room.

Doesn't matter if AH was the only one to go down this road due to a cathartic event in his youth (which is extremely unlikely). The loss of his father appears to be a factor for the terrible path he chose. That doesn't make his actions ok -- personal responsibility always must be the front line. But identifying why/considering why he ended up where he ended up is a good thing, the smart thing, and the right thing.
Generally speaking the AHs of the world are not born they are made.

I don't remember if this was among the most common or is the most common factor among male inmates: single parent household/no father. If true, since youths have no control over their parental situation, since as a society we want to keep people away from acts that land them in prison, it's counterproductive to believe 'who cares why he got here. Just throw away the key'. No??

ADX is a messed up place. Thats another reason why I don't think he'd survive there- isolation.

Good think they don't have Bombmaking 101 classes with Ted Kaczynski and Terry Nichols there...

The most common factor among inmates is poverty and lack of a father in the house increases the likelihood of poverty.

People like Hernandez ARE born. Circumstances don't lead to killing people for fun.

But there is nothing to understand. It's who he is. And yes finding reasons to blame his actions on someone or something else is absolutely making excuses.

Come on, really?

Environmental factors influence outcome. To believe otherwise is to disregard the short term, medium term and long term evolutionary process we are all absolutely a part of.

What a shame..........

I can't believe he's still only 26.
Imagine what he'd be now in the league. He was already one of the most versatile players in the game at such a young age. SMDH

Aaron was supposedly close to his dad, and reportedly turned to using drugs and hanging out with "tough guys" in order to cope after the loss. As we saw, it was something of a progressive change that took several years to peak. He continued to play football, but also began to partake in off the field activities that were detrimental to many.

No one's making excuses or claiming that there aren't people who make better choices under similar circumstances, but it would be silly to discount the obvious environmental factors that contributed to his demise.

I think losing his father was a big catalyst to the road he went down.
I don't think anyone cares....it's not like we're going to feel sympathy for Aaron.

Just his victims....Hernandez isn't a victim, he's a perpetrator

No ******** but there actually have been studies done that suggest murders and rapists are deficient in various enzymes, malformed areas of the brain and genetic dispositions to poor impulse control and violence.
Ok, so let's invent a test to identify such people so we can put them away BEFORE they lash out

Too many psychos walking our streets. Maybe the old nuthouses weren't all bad

I disagree. I don't care about AH but understanding his downfall and what lead him to make poor choice after poor choice could benefit others that may be faced with similar self-destructive choices.
