Kraft is becoming an embarassment every time he opens his mouth

Pardon me, but I'm sick of all this criticism of Kraft. He has brought us a decade of great teams, great seasons and great memories. If results are the measure, no other owner comes close to him. And yet in this thread and others, people criticize him as though they are insiders who know exactly what he's thinking, and not just insiders, but wiser men than he. For those who persist, please prepare to match your accomplishments with his. Otherwise, shut the hell up.
So you think that the NFL position on concussions is fine? You think that calling the investigative report into how they manipulated the date bs is just fine?
I guess you stand behind the league and how they are handling the concussion issue, since they have been very successful, and are saying exactly the same things Kraft is?

More from Kraft from the same article

When a reporter began a question to Kraft by saying that the NFL acknowledged the reporting of concussions was "incomplete," Kraft responded quickly, saying, "Inaccurate. Inaccurate. They put out a 50-page reply to it. But we're here to celebrate Team IMPACT tonight, and I'll let you deal with those issues."

Kraft is like the politician who says "I can't be bought but I can be rented" because he's one of the good old boys its a win win every time. I am just dissapointed in all those who brought into his bend with the wind apology before the season talk about about trying to save face.

Hey let's tie Kraft to a telephone poll and throw rotten fruit and veggies at him.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

LOL @ all the folks who continue to believe Kraft isn't a money grubbing NFL whore.

As mentioned, I'm thankful for everything Kraft did for the Patriots, the most notable being staying the hell out of football and letting BB do what he does but these days, I find myself respecting him less and less.

So the NFL is scum for lying about the concussion issue, but Kraft is just a businessman when he does the same thing?

I'm not agreeing with or defending Kraft. It's the NFL, and Kraft is just spinning the whole thing in their favor (which is what I would expect him to do). As far as i'm concerned the NFL and the owners are both scum.

Past accomplishments do not make you sacred or excuse you from criticism for saying or doing dumb things.

Times are changing, Mainefan.

Its exactly what it is. He is towing the company line.

The problem is that the company line is disgusting.

Please. That's a Goodell approach. Are you an Article 46 guy?

Some of the questioning of Kraft is over the top....but his hypocritical fawning of the Commissioner has gotten awkward and embarrassing given Goodell's own snide comments aimed at Kraft.

A few "No comments" or "I'll address that issue at a later date" would go a long way right about yesterday.

Some people on here are so ****ing blind...yes, Kraft has done some great things with his team. He made a good call on Belichick, but be honest, Brady kinda fell into his lap and Kraft had little to do with Brady ending up on this team. And he probably derailed an earlier super bowl win when he meddled with Parcells.

But most of the time Krafty Bob leads with his wallet - always has, always will. He tried to hold the Comm of MA hostage for public funding of his stadium, threatened to move to CT, has been embroiled in dispute after dispute with David Mugar at Ch7, Charlie Sarkis r.e. everything, Tom Menino, and a list of others, and has screwed employee after employee with his paper/box company.

I just don't understand why some people on here worship Kraft so much. He doesn't give a schitt about us, the regular guys who buy Pats tickets, shirts, etc. All he cares about is snuggling with Arthur Blank, John Mara, the Rooneys, etc. Money and "being liked by the owners" is the be all and end all to this man....otherwise, he wouldn't have bent over so readily at the owners' meetings in SF last year....

Success in business doesn't give a free pass for immorality. The NFL is sabotaging research about the effect of concussions. That's some evil ****, and Kraft, after his comments, is certainly complicit. The true measure of a man is in his relationships, contributions to the world, adherence to morality and his effect on those around him/her. The amount of wealth they achieve by death isn't even part of the equation. For the record I'm not one of the Kraft bashers, but there's no excuse for his comments.

Well said. I certainly agree with your comments regarding the true measure of a man, and the amount of wealth by death not factoring in.

But then, I'm not a super wealthy businessman who has devoted his life to making billions of dollars.

But then, I'm not a super wealthy businessman who has devoted his life to making billions of dollars.
The opinion of a man that forgets what's important and puts profit above all else is meaningless. Men with such greed have the capacity to come back, but very few ever do.

I truly feel sorry for those who were born with a golden spoon. Most never understand what is truly important and will never know the feeling of true love or fulfillment. Sure, they'll never know what it's like to experience true loss, but even with their billions, it is a poor trade.

Kraft is a businessman - he's just trying to sell his sport. What's he supposed to say, "football is unsafe don't play it?"
He could back away from the microphone. He should recognize that he is aligning himself on the wrong side of history.
From my lofty perch, I see an owner that has officially crossed the line….from a man of the people to just another self serving corporate owner…..akin to a Jeremy Jacobs. Going forward, Bob should not expect to retain such revered status among New Englanders. Most people have short memories and love easy targets…. and now that Kraft stands shoulder to shoulder again with the Full 32…….this man of the people no longer exists.
We still have Bill though………give 'em hell BB.

But Kraft is just a business man

Its time to keep him away from cameras and mics.

Among other things to keep him away from (stopwatches, Scotch, Vladimir Putin, and public funds come to mind).

Disclaimer: I know this is a rough comment (well one word above in particular) so let me say clearly that I've loved the guy as an owner, I appreciate all he has done, and respect the way he stepped up for the NFL time and time again, in particular (but far from only) the way he left his wife's death-bed to help save the league from what sure looked like a prolonged strike situation. He was chairman of the finance committee for many years - a pretty important spot for the Billionaires Boys Club I think, he was one of I think 3 owners (with Jerruh Jones and Bowlen if memory serves correctly) who negotiated the greatest broadcasting rights contracts in the history of sports - twice (I don't believe for a second that Commissioner Schiesskopf does the actual negotiation, I believe his role is to "service" the "broadcast partners"). I think Kraft came up with the idea for the league to provide significant financing for new stadium projects, and doubtless many other things that have really served both the league and us fans very well. We're lucky he's "our guy" in lots of ways. Someone earlier in this thread mentioned him as angling for the HOF; I think he belongs there for all he's done, especially if guys like Ralph Wilson and crooked little Eddie DeBartolo are in there. BUT his last couple of years have been hot garbage - regarding Ray Rice, Deflategate/Brady, and now the CTE study. Even the staunchest Kraft fan needs to admit he has been stumbling and bumbling on more than few issues lately, and further that for all his many gifts, Kraft has always had a bit of a problem with the old "mouth filter."

You agree with him based on what you currently think the risks are. The NFL has been working hard behind the scenes to keep you (and everyone else) from learning what the true risks are.

If the rate of post-football debilitating injuries from head trauma is twice as bad as you think it it, is it still worth it? Ten times as bad? Until the NFL stops with the smoke screen, the deceiving, the inveigling, the obfuscating, we just don't know what the true risks are.
I think he was talking about the game's benefits in the context of playing it at the school level.

Not sure how you agree that playing football is the same as womens soccer with respect to head injuries.
Huh? That's not what I wrote. I said as someone who played football at the school level, I agreed with him that the benefits of playing the sport for young people outweigh injury risk.

The only thing I'd disagree with in the title is "becoming". He has never been eloquent, or someone I liked to hear talk, but more cringe-inducing. He's a good owner because he keeps out of BB's way, I used to think, but the way he dealt with framegate 1 and 2 now has me wondering....

He compared it to all contact sports, including womens soccer. Note not girls soccer.
He defended the NFLs crap on concussions.

I have always said my entire life that playing football teaches character. But I'm not going to say the risk of head injury is the same as womens soccer or hockey. That is totally ignorant, just like the NFL storyline he is endorsing.
Football is by definition a game of collisions, and without any question poses the greatest risk of head injury of any sport other than boxing or motorized vehicle racing. To compare it with women's soccer and hockey, because you can get a concussion there is like comparing a 5 year old crossing the street in a 4 house culdesac with crossing the CrossBronx Expressway. And Kraft knows better,

Additionally, the character built by playing football can be built in other sports, so to say there is a magic benefit that makes it worth getting CTE for is irresponsible and frankly stupid.
For Kraft it is worth the risk because he makes billions because of it.
