Forte was never going to be a Patriot because of Forte, not because of the Patriots.
The role he wants was not here for him, unless you want to cut Dion Lewis.

lol and then the Jets resigned Powell and got Khiry Robinson.

Forte must be well miffed then!

No they need a borderline number 1 outside receiver. If the games this year told you anything is the Pats can be shut down offensively if they don't have an outside guy that defenses need to honor. Don't give me Dion Lewis. I base all my planning off of the idea that Lewis will not be there for the post season. He always gets hurt so what will change? If he is a available it's a bonus. So, without Lewis what was this offense? Average against good defenses, borderline average against great defenses. Defenses that could play the flood the middle and still get to the QB. What solves the flood the middle? A Lafell type or even better in reality that demands better than a #3 DB and can go up and grab a ball.
I simply could not disagree more with your assessment of the offense.

Fix the OL, and this is the best offense in the NFL.

He needs backups. He wasn't coming here with Lewis here. Bilal Powell is not Dion Lewis.

I don't buy his explanation. It was about cash.
The Patriots would have paid that much.
They were not an option because he wants to be an every down back, and not share the job.

Well that can't be done to the level where what I said would be invalid. Brady was getting dropped on almost every dropback in the SB and didn't get better last year. A guy who can jump for a ball after a 3 step drop is invaluable.

You have a way overrated assessment of the offense. Wow.

Lol you have inside info?

Pats had no interest in a back at that amount

OK. They were the best offense in the NFL when they were healthy, even despite the OL.
Not sure how you come up with the way to fix an OL that can't block is to get a WR who can jump after running 6 steps, but we won't agree here any way.

hey, bill you have to pay market value if you want to sign players.
stop lowballing everyone...

Im glad hes not paying average players big money..

We have some top guys that should be extended. Id rather put our money towards that.

The money thrown around this year as been ridiculous.

Hightower, Jones & Sheard will not add money if extended or not much (maybe even save money)

However Collins, Butler, Ryan & Harmon are all important players that if you give a new contract to it could substantially up their cap hit this year depending on how you do it.

Also I would not be opposed to giving Edelman and Gronk both an extra million each this year. They deserve it for how they have played.

Re: Mike Wallace, much like if you're looking at Anquan Boldin purely from statistics, there is a little more complexity there than on it's face.

The 2012 Steelers were bad, and Wallace's dip in numbers his last year there was mirrored by a dip in Antonio Brown's numbers.

2013-14-15 Wallace played with Tannehill and Bridgewater, particularly MIN was not a very good passing offense. I'll admit I didn't watch much of him last year, but if his dip in production has caused any sort of dip in price that could be worth looking at. Not judging the guy, seems there's character/work ethic questions that probably make this a non-starter, just saying that the numbers lie a little bit here.

Actually he was thought to be great in the locker room. No headaches there whatsoever. Wanted the ball but not an anal pore about it.

He is not small. He is 6'0" and about 212lbs oand only 30.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur, the Raiders are "working on" free agent S Eric Weddle.

I'm basing it on common sense. Forte has been an every down back, and wanted out of Chicago when Lankford emerged. Why would he choose a team with a guy who will take playing time away from him?
I'm sure BB would have loved to have him and would have paid that in a heartbeat, but you can only offer, you can't make them accept.

There is a big difference between looking at his numbers and looking at his ability.
He is severely overrated.
As are 75% of who this forum wants us to sign. Isn't that a fair statement?

Weddle is a good player but we have McCourty/Chung/Harmon and Richards who looks promising in the pipe line. We don't need him and it would be over kill when we could help a need position for that money or extend some of our key players here.

Manning to Sanders. Did you not watch the AFCCG? Denvers o-line wasn't the greatest yet he tossed it up and Sanders got it. That's what the Pats need. To say different is wrong at best.
