Miami film breakdown by Benoit. The OL has been having problems for a couple of months, but this game set a new low:

Amazing the RBs got any yards at all, but they almost destroyed the GOAT. I have heard no obvious reason (for me, no Edelman or Vollmer do not explain everyone getting repeatedly blown up). Would love to be a fly on the wall when the coaches review this tape.

To end on an up note:

There are serious problems with assignment understanding and communication. Way too many missed assignments. Guys letting rushers come free while they unnecessarily double another rusher who's already handled. Overall people not getting better at their assignments, a bad sign as regards coaching.

I've put that game in the rear view mirror but the more I think about it, I'm willing to bet that the team got the vibe from the coaches that this game was not really important and they played like it.

The o-line has been sub-standard for weeks now but they are not THAT bad.

Fleming is terrible, and Stork has been playing as if he's brand new to the center position. Having Vollmer back should help.

Vollmer can handle himself as long as he's got his health, which means Cannon can get the help from Williams/Gronk. S. Jackson should be in a much better position to play on passing downs, as he'll know the protections better. After that, it's up to the IOL to pull their heads out of their asses. T. Jackson and Kline may, or may not, not be able to do that, but we know that Stork is capable.

Waddle intrigues me. Hes seems quicker than Cannon.

Shhhh. It's never the coaches fault or so I've been told. Stork flailing away after yet another missed second level block means the coaching isn't good. That's basic football 101. And they aren't getting it done. I pray they fix it between now and game time.

...misfires. o_O

I'd like to see Waddle play LT while Vollmer moves back to RT.

I will defend the o-line in this respect. It was easy for the Dolphins defenders. It was either the Pats were going to run the ball or Brady was going to stand in the pocket for 3-5 second while his receivers went down the field. The Dolphins defense had it easy in that respect. The offense was vanilla and predictable.

Again, I'm amazed that it only took 37 snaps with the Patriots for people to forget that Waddle was benched and then cut for being an absolutely awful player for the Lions this year. I liked the claim and I'm interested to see what he can do next year when he's more recovered from his torn ACL, but I can't help but think that people have very quickly turned him into something that he's not right now.

What in God's name have you seen of Waddle this season that makes you think he could adequately protect the GOAT's blind side?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it really seems like the already patchwork o-line's performance dropped more dramatically when Andrews was replaced by Stork.

What the hell happened to Stork this year? He came in as a rookie and played great but somehow missing 8 weeks due to concussion has made him terrible?

Really missed any sort of a veteran presence on the line. It's like when the line would play worse whenever Stephen Neal was injured years back except 1000x worse.

Granted I have no access to his health info, but I think he's still having lingering concussion effects. He's missing an awful lot of assignments this season.

Cant fix guys losing 1 on 1 battles .That is the biggest concern.

Benoit says Pats one of soundness defenses in nfl yet Ryan tannehill eviscerated them for 350 & 2 tds????

He had a lot of opportunities. Every time he couldn't move the ball he simply needed to wait 3 plays then he would get the ball back.

Ouch. I agree with and dislike your post.

4 of their last 8 games saw the opposition put up 420+ yards, which would place them near the bottom of all teams.

You can play well fundamentally, and still struggle at times due to injuries/lack of depth/need for improvement.
