Rob Gronkowski injury

Let's hope he is okay. Let's Sign 11 guys and have them play both O and D against Philly...one week without an injury is all I want!
You got that right. Gronk's injury is huge but so is Hightower's.
At this point I'm worried about Brady surviving. He is taking a pounding.

Oh god please please.

Please let him be ok.

Please.

The latest theory is that it's a hyperextended knee injury.

If that's the case - it will be 2-4 weeks of recovery. By NFL standards this will most likely be two weeks, rather than four.

Now if this is paired with a tear (mcl, pcl, acl) then it will require surgery and he'll be out 6-9 months.
Are you sure about this? Don't MCL tears often heal on their own without surgery?

Fingers crossed for his health. Past seasons have shown that his health is integral for a championship run.

If the news is Good we sit Gronk the next two games we know we cannot win a SB without HIM! So lets heal him up for when it counts.

No, I know its not a terrible injury, but what is the recovery usually like? Is it like a bruise? Something pulled? Will he be fine in a few days? How severe can one of these be?

As long as their is no structural damage (which seems unlikely) now it's just a bad bruise which should heal fast

Sucks to see yet another potential injury to a great player. Hopefully it's just something minor and he's ready to roll in a week or two.

Raises the question though... what do you guys think about all the rules "protecting" receivers? If I'm Gronk (or really any WR/TE) I'd rather safeties come in and hit me high instead of down low. I mean ya can't blame defenders for going low. We've all seen good clean hits that get flagged because they "look" bad when the hit is in the shoulder/chest area. So as a defender, you almost have to aim waist down. Then the slightest adjustment can easily lead to a full-speed knee shot.

Tough. I suppose the rules help keep away extreme head or neck injuries, but they undoubtedly raise the likelihood of the smaller leg injures that can still put players out for weeks or even seasons.

God has mercy. Please let Gronk be okay. It's heartbreaking to see him go down again and again.

After this injury I want Gronk wearing braces on both knees. I don't care if it slows him down 0.1 of a second, he'd still be the best TE in football.

Yeah, it would be nice to see some of those lower shots penalized to try and deter some of the future injuries. Sadly, I doubt that will happen, though.

We need to finish 14-2 at best to get home field. These next 3 games are critical.

I was actually thinking about this earlier this morning. It sounds good in theory, but is perhaps a bit unrealistic with braces on both knees. Where do you draw the line? Do we put double knee braces on all the guys like Edelman, etc as well? Just doesn't seem feasible to me.

Don't discount the back to back road games to end the season, which also happen to occur against divisional opponents to boot.

Prior to winning the back to back road games @DAL and @IND earlier this season, the Pats were only 3/8 past victories in that spot (winning both).

The next 5 games are all going to be important, and I'm not as certain as you that 14-2 "at best" will give us HFA. We've already lost the tie breaker to Denver, which would give them HFA if they'd win out and we'd lose a game. I think 14-2 "should" get it, but it's no sure thing. I don't know the scenarios if CIN wins out and we lose one, as to who gets the tie breaker.

Fingers and toes crossed. If Gronk's OK, then last night was a night to put in the past. On to Philadelphia!
I could argue that we'd have to put it in the past regardless of Gronk's outcome. LOL Just kidding.

Fortunately Denver and Cincinnati cannot both win out as they play each other.
