Kiko Alonso has been out with a grade 2 ACL Sprain (loose/partial tear) which occurred week 2 against Dallas

He's expected to play again tonight

Let's pray it could be no worse for Lewis

We won the superbowl without Lewis, we'll adjust. One way or another...
We had Shane Vereen. Who happened to catch 11 passes in the SB. Either White or maybe Cadet can step up, maybe sign Dri Archer. Either way, sign Cadet or Archer and get rid of one of the 76 safeties we have.

Lewis is the first time i have heard of them making a last minute game plan change because that player was so ingrained in the offense. I think brady and gronk would have that effect.

we also had vereen last year....

Let's hope he walks out after the Giants lose next week, they release him and we pick him up

On a serious note, let's hope White steps up. Maybe even bring Archer in for a look.

While white is no Lewis, I'd put him on par with vereen easily.

I still have no idea what a loose ACL is. Never heard that term before. Anyone else?

Leaks happen. And Schefter is as good as they come.

True, but in this case, my guess is his source got his ligaments confused. You don't let a player walk off the field with a compromised ACL, as the distibility it causes could lead to further damage.

This makes me think the prior reports of an MCL sprain are more accurate - a loose MCL is also not as immediately evident during the initial on-field examination.

No. Hes been an incredible surprise that has made us better than we would be without him. So if hes out we WILL take a step back
No doubt he is a loss but he was a bonus, one we all loved and really, really loved to watch but his loss will not alter our teams approach.

This game brought back bad memories of 2013. Hope he recovers well and gets back out there soon.

White is probably a slightly better receiver than Lewis, but nowhere near the runner. Cadet isn't really much of a running back at all and is mainly just a receiver... Archer is probably the closest to Lewis from a speed/elusive standpoint but is also tiny, and doesn't yet know the offense. Also don't know how he is with blitz pickup... Shoot, Bolden looked alright in the fourth quarter today, though! That touchdown pass was sweet.

What Lewis brought to this offense was awesome and this is a really tough loss to bear. It doesn't mean our offense isn't any good of course but it takes away some of the explosiveness.

We still need someone to step up in the role of a pass catching RB...it's always been an important aspect of our offense.

no..white isn't that quick/explosive but he should be serviceable...
He actually had a terrific preseason. Lewis is special but White can get the job done.

At this point, I'm just going to wait for the Patriots to take action.

Here:

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injuries-OrthoInfo - AAOS

Grade 1 Sprains. The ligament is mildly damaged in a Grade 1 Sprain. It has been slightly stretched, but is still able to help keep the knee joint stable.

Grade 2 Sprains. A Grade 2 Sprain stretches the ligament to the point where it becomes loose. This is often referred to as a partial tear of the ligament.

Grade 3 Sprains. This type of sprain is most commonly referred to as a complete tear of the ligament. The ligament has been split into two pieces, and the knee joint is unstable.
