You say i didnt know that robert kraft and jerry jones were among them.. You posted this info on a patriots fan forum. How on earth is anyone suppose to take this? If we are not suppose to take it as a "scandal" as you put it, Involving a site that has nfl owners as investors, but you never knew or are not sure if jerry jones and robert kraft are invloved with that site than why not just say what really happened? One dude used info on draft kings to bet on fanduel. Fencer thats what happened. So you can imply that im dumb all you want but you are the one making a mountain out of a mole hill.
It's not clear what "insider" information is. It's not like the sites know what points will be scored on Sunday.
I don't see why using data collected by one site to bet at another site is illegal or even shady. It is data available to anybody.....collective wisdom is not something that can give you an edge in fantasy football.
You have to be a fool to not see the amount of money being generated by these fantasy sites. The NFL has always kept a distance between itself and gambling but they've fully embraced DraftKings and FanDuel. I won't be one bit surprised when it all ends up in tears.
It isn't available to everyone. Basically you can get great value from certain players if you know who the public is favoring. And as it turns out, the public plays similarly on each site, so if you have inside info at Draft Kings, that gives a great insight regarding what FanDuel users are doing..I don't see why using data collected by one site to bet at another site is illegal or even shady. It is data available to anybody.....collective wisdom is not something that can give you an edge in fantasy football. There are too many variables in play.
During the initial on line poker craze, it was discovered that some people had either access to the codes or hacked them and were able to see everyone's hole cards ( which makes the game really easy to win). I wouldn't trust any of these gambling/fantasy sites, because as with any computer program, the data is there to be breeched, you just have to figure a way to get to it.
The real problem here is for the NFL* and its sponsors. I see Draftkings and FanDuel signage in almost every stadium and with BSPN and the commercials are endless. if it turns out that the NFL* was sending its fans to sites where they were being cheated, then it may be time to concoct another fake "Patriots cheated" scandal to move the birdy.
Here's an excellent explanation of what insider information is available and why it's valuable. The capsule answer is that in a pool of many thousands of bettors, portfolio uniqueness is key. So a breakdown of how many other bettors own a particular player is an enormous edge. (The sites publish that data after the fact, but the scandal erupted when an employee was shown to have it ahead of time...and won another site's jackpot.)

FWIT, I've been following this story fairly closely, and I didn't take Fencer's post to imply the NFL had a hand in it.2. You mention team owners as investors.. Injury reports are designed to get rid of insider information. They are anti-gambling in the sense that they are meant to remove advantages people inside the NFL would have over the public.Injury reports

I don't know why the NFL should really care about this. It's not NFL employees, it's not effecting the actual game. If people want to blow money then have at it.
The easiest fix would be to follow the injury report model and just make that data public. But that's not really an NFL problem, it's a Draft Kings/Fan duel problem. If they can't prove the legitimacy of their game people will find someone who will.
