Michael Smith on Moss

Michael Smith was the first one to break confirmation of Jamarcus Russell to the Raiders. He has a source with the Raiders, or with an agent close to the Raiders. Schefter has been very inconsistent on this Moss story over the last 2 months. Scoffing at it originally , then reporting that NE had offered a 6th rdr. as of this morning. For me, anyway, there is too much smoke around "NE and Moss" to dismiss Smith's report.

yes and i broke the news of russell to oakland 2 weeks ago lol i think we get moss by mid day sunday for a 5th

And he is willing to restructure his contract for the Patriots to play here... He may have character issues but with all the leaders on our team, I think they can keep him in line... Can you imagine it though? Brady throwing a deep ball to Moss who jumps and snatches it out of the air for a touchdown? It would be awesome, and the PATS offense would be hard to stop because of all the playmakers...

the only one on oakland that dont like randy moss is warren sapp even do i like sapp he is a strat shooter and if you dont like it do bad and the guy that dont like it is moss so thats the only thing i know of puls oakland is a bad team and he wants a ring and the pats can give him that what did they say about dillon he turned out ok for us

I'm frankly getting tired of this "Moss to the Pats" and then "Pats are out of the running". The Pats are not out of the running unitl they are out of the running. That scout said the David Harris was a lock at #28 and that didn't happen. The facts are, Moss wants to be a Patriot and not a Packer. The Pats offered a draft pick, so it's up to the Raiders for what they want to do.

I want him, he is better than 90% of the WRs in this draft.

My thoery...
we don't know what we gave up for the 3rd.
Before the draft got going around 11:30am there were reports that NE had a deal in place to send a conditional 3rd to Oakland for Moss.

I think this has happend. However, the condition is such that Moss must restructure his contract with us or we would get a 2nd/3rd or some other form of compensation next year.

I hope this happens.
Moss and Stallworth going deep would take the safeties out of the run defense completely. Hello Wes welker, watson, thomas, and maroney zone blockhing scheme.

Give me a DE/OLB and a mauler of a RB an I'm happy.

Here's the thing with Moss. He's a darned good receiver, really good. When he wants to be. He's petulant and narccistic, and always seems to have an excuse for not performing to his capabilities.

Well, if he comes here, he'll be out of excuses. He'll be paired up with some damned good talent. A QB who can always get the ball to him, and some pretty good WR's to boot. Add in a culture of hard work and victory, and he's got everything around him he's always asked for.

So, no more excuses. If he comes here, and that's still a big if, he knows he's gonna have to perform. He won't be allowed to take plays off, becuase not only will coach not stand for it, neither will anyone else on the team.

You think he'd want to have to face Logan Mankins Or Matt Light if they were pissed at him? Those guys are used to giving 110%, and expect everyone else to.

It's going to be interesting either way. Either it's the end of the road for Moss out in Oakland, or his last shot at being somebody here in NE. His choice how it all plays out, but if he bottoms out, like i believe he will, he's got no one to blame but himself.

What a shame to waste such God-given talents as a receiver. That young man could have anything he wanted, football-wise, if he'd just been willing to work for it.

Respects,

Well said.

That's exactly my feeling on my Moss. If we do get him he better perform or else he's going to be gone... But I am crossing my fingers we get him, he works his ass off, and then becomes the talent that he was in Minn. FWIW I'd rather take a chance on him with a 3rd or a 4th than on a college that hasn't played a down. We at least know the potential that we'll get.

Yep forgot to mention that part too.

I think that if he's willing to do that too, then he must wanna just come in, shut up, and play.

Fellers,

Don't get me wrong hre. I'm not at all AGAINST the idea of him coming here, because he really can be a threat every play. BUT, he's got to understand that it's a different culture up here. A culture that expects players to play to their abilities all the time, because that's how you get to a position to see the promised land. You might not make it there, because, as we saw last year, nothing is guarenteed.

However, if you don't drop your shoulder and pull your weight, you'll definately not get ther. It's simple, really.

Yea, he's realizing it's not all about the money... I think maybe he has taken a hard look at his career, and realizes a few things and some things he may need to change...

If we can restructure his contract, I dont see any reason not to give Randy Moss a shot for a 4th round pick. Honestly, there is a decent chance the guy we would draft at that pick doesnt even make the team, and a slim chance that he ever becomes a big factor.

Do you suppose the fact that we were dealing 3rd Round picks with Oakland fueled the fire of Moss speculation even though it was unrelated?

By the way, we can always talk Oakland into trading picks with us. Oakland is like your little brother who lets you trade him an Alan Gallagher card for a Willie Mays card.

I think I cant wait for today to be over to get the Randy Moss talk over with once and for all.. Although I thought it was done 2 months ago, but it some how resurfaced..
