A source tells FOX Sports Arizona that Larry Fitzgerald does not expect to be back with the Cardinals next season.

Quote:
Fitzgerald carries a $23.6M cap number in 2015. The Cardinals are obviously going to ask him to take a massive pay cut, especially after the 31-year-old failed to top 1,000 yards for the third straight season. But FOX's report suggests Fitz will reject a renegotiated deal and force the team to cut him, thus freeing him from a situation where he reportedly "is not happy with his role on the team." The future Hall of Famer apparently doesn't like playing the slot and being a complementary piece on offense. This situation could get messy once the Cardinals are eliminated from the playoffs.

Wonder if any chance pats are on his or their radar with rumors in past about the two. Wonder how much $$ he will command compared to what we will need to extend revis..mccourty ect

Can't afford him. Also this is now the 10,000th post about Fitz coming to the Patriots.

He is good but honestly I have never seen a fan base obsess so much about 1 player coming to their team for so long.

To answer your financial question though. The Patriots if they sign McCourty and other key players will have nearly no room left.

The only chance to sign him is to either cut Wilfork entirely or Let McCourty walk. Personally I don't value top WRs all that highly so I would not like either move much.

32 years old and 3 straight years without a 1,000 yard season. If Fitzgerald's cut, he's worth keeping an eye on. I don't think he would command that much money.

Would want him if we can afford it.

@BobDigital you say he can't be afforded, but do you really know what he would be worth on the open market?

get this guy in the offseason, resign Revis and we're ready to trample the rest of the NFL.

Do I know? nope. I can only guess by what I have seen in recent years.

In real money he will probably cost an average of 6M over the life of his contract.

That is more then the Pats can currently afford unless they cut a player I want them to keep.

Now we MIGHT be able to sign him to a deal where we get a discount year 1 if it is a longer contract but I don't want to sign Fitz to a long contract as I think he is not the player he use to be and will be over priced.

If he wants shot at a championship he'll go to us, Denver, GB or Seattle. None of those teams will break the bank for him.

In 7 games this year with Carson Palmer, Fitzy had 35 catches for 540 yards and 2 TDs. Projected over a 16 game schedule thats 80 catches for 1234 yds and 5 TDs.

At 31 he certainly isn't what he was but with a competent QB he is capable of producing at a high level.

No idea if he'd fit here money and scheme wise but I think the dude can still flat-out play.

I'll never say never because I thought there was little likelihood that Revis would ever come here. then again, they had just lost Talib and really needed a CB at the time.

We're not that needy at WR that we would consider paying him top dollar (even for a 1 year prove you still have it deal). If he was realistic and wanted a chance at a ring he'd be willing to got to a contender for reasonable $$$. We're just as likely as others that would be consider contenders.

Question really is, how does Fitzgerald evaluate himself? Would be be ok with the number of receptions after say Gronk and Edleman? Would it be worth displacing LaFell's receptions for him (probably, but I would hate to do that to Brady).

Bye week threads r the worst. I'm surprised the axiom "SIGN THE BEAST hasn't been uttered yet,
BTW I'm surprised I haven't seen a 2015-2016 free agent thread yet. There must b at least 10 FA's we should b looking at

It seems to me that Fitzgerald has really started to slide in terms of his production. At 6 million a year, if Fitz would even accept that, I would have much rather signed Sanders for 3 years and the 18 he got from Denver. .

if he is welling to sign as the #3 WR at 5 or 6 million for 2 years he would be a great red zone weapon for Brady but I think some team will pay for the name

Not me. I want them to devote their resources to keeping this defense together but if they could do that, drop Amendola and use that $ to sign Fitzgerald I would be all for it. He doesn't have to be a game breaker but be a really reliable WR who can get first downs for them then they would really have a good receiving corps.

Edelman ,Gronkowski, Fitzgerald , LaFell, Wright, and Vereen and then the projects would make them tough to defend.
