Patriots vs Broncos Week

Too much fantasy football and not enough real football.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Gronk can actually block unlike graham of Thomas (which we all already know). Theres more to being a tight end than pass catching alone

I think the Broncos will really struggle to cover us in the middle of the field. That being said, that's not going to matter much if the broncos are able to get a pass rush. I think our defense is built to stop their offense much better than theirs is to stop ours

For some reason I dont see the pats playing man to man press exclusively. Especially with faster WRs they play back like they did with mike wallace.

To me that is a recipe for disaster. Everything Manning does is timing. they played real tight coverage last year, I'd say it worked out pretty well

Call me a sadist if you will, but I would like to see the Patriots DBs get old-school with the skill position players of the Broncos and brutalise them at the LOS.

They miss a physical safety. I wont mind if they make browner the enforcer safety type player down the stretch.

Browner is going to play Corner. I'm at ease with him doing what he does there. That said, the Patriots really do need to find an exceptional Strong Safety type. The platoon is okay but it's not desirable long term.

A blowout? We won by a FG in OT.
If you take away all the turnovers it would have been a blow out. Because of them it was one of the greatest come backs ever

Anyone see Denver putting Talib on Gronk? Don't think it would be anywhere near as effective as Talib on Graham was last year. Graham is soft. Gronk is not.

Jimmy Graham is also a reciever. Gronk is a tight end.

I dont want to sound like im hedging here but Im not all that worried about this weeks game. Even with a win Broncos are likely favourites to get the #1 seed. Winning @Indy is more important as it gives up the inside track for the #2 seed and the bye.

Right now Broncos are the better team. They were a great team last season and just built on that and its showing. Im still 100% of the opinion that the Pats are still a work in progress. New OL, new Secondary, trying to work alot of skill players in at the same time. Pats arent just adding players to a smooth running machine, it seems like they had to tear it all up and start again even if there are some returning players.

Us Pats fans have a high ceiling for what this team can be. We thought it during the off-season and while the first 4 games put a dampner on things I think its clear to see that the last few games we have saw some flashes of what we thought this team was going to be.

I dont think they are there yet. Sunday is a big game so I would not be suprised if they found a way to put it all together for the game but i still think there is some growing pains to go through.

The encouraging thing from the past few weeks is that come the post-season I fully believe that they will be the team we all thought they would be, and win/lose/draw on Sunday i believe the team that the Pats can be can go into Denver in January and win.

These days football is the way it's supposed to be. You don't know week to week that you're definitely better than your opponent or vice versa. The Bears and Bengals aren't exactly the gold standard, but I had no idea we'd roll in already banged up and blow the bears out. I was amazed that we needed last-minute heroics to beat the JEST. The first two games this season I was like "This is the end..." Now it's like... wait a minute, as of right now the offensive line is actually pretty good, wait a minute, Brady's still Brady, wait a minute, LaFell can play, and who are these guys keeping the D together... I mean other than Revis and Browner, and thank God we signed those guys, right?

Anyway.

No wrist slitting if the Broncos come to town and lay down the law. But I think we actually win this.

I think.

I see lots of crossing patterns, wham blocks, maybe a few screens to the RB or WR, a Julian end around ALL to tire out Ware and Miller. Put Hooman in to chip Develin a few times. It's all about slowing down that pass rush, because they can't stop Gronk, JE, LaFell, Wright and Vereen. I honestly think Wright becomes an X factor in this game if they cover Gronk with Talib or Ward, leaving Wright to be covered by a LB, big mismatch.

Defensively, try and get a rush up the middle and make the Mallard move laterally as opposed to just rushing upfield like Jones did in the AFCCG, and allowing Mallard to step up.

That weak arm can be made weaker by forcing him to throw off balance

You bastard. You're just trying to ruin Foreheads stats.

Jimmy Graham is also a reciever. Gronk is a tight end.

What, exactly, do you mean by this statement, NEP?

Obviously, they are both TEs. Are you speaking to Graham's softness at the position, therefore "only" considering him a receiver in theory?

Thats what revis is paid for. Honestly, i would try putting Browner on Thomas and Revis on Sanders

No. No. No.

Revis does not matchup nearly as well with shiftier, faster wideouts like he does with the more physical ones. It's why he wasn't effective vs. Mike Wallace, and it's why he wasn't placed on Cordarelle Patterson the next week (Greg Jennings, instead).

Not claiming that D.Thomas is not "fast" as well, but I would certainly place Revis on D.Thomas. I think it's what he was brought here to do. If you can take away Demarius Thomas, you can severely limit Peyton Manning. Obviously, a gameplan with both Thomases as your primary focus is a must....

We can deploy any number of other plans with Sanders, even including Arrington with bracketed help; after all, he's been effective vs. Welker in the past, and held Victor Cruz to 4 catches for 24 yds in the Super Bowl.
