Brandon Browner not at practice Thursday Oct 9

I love the Pats and what they have done in recent history. But...sometimes I feel like they outsmart themselves. Running an offense and defense as complicated as they do is great when everything works as hoped. But when it does not it's just players under performing, or getting cut because the system is too complicated for them to pick up. If we are really having that much trouble picking up an outside receiver, maybe the scheme should change. There are receivers out there in the draft or free agency every year but we always hear how they are not a good fit for our system. If we are always going without a deep threat because nobody can learn the system then maybe that's an indication of issues with the system. Not with every single WR in college and free agency. Yeah, yeah, Dobson. I am hopeful about him. But until he actually plays a meaningful amount of games forgive me for resting the future of the team on him.

I don't think these receivers are failing because the system is too complicated. If that were the case, you would see WR's drafted by the Pats that have gotten cut and have moved on to productive careers. How many of those can you think of off the top of your head?

LaFell's already getting the system down. The system is complicated, but it's not as if these guys are being asked to handle advanced physics.

"No no no, Brandon! The D was in cover 2 with the deep safety shading away from you. Given the linebacker is 3 lbs below the average for an ILB, and it's 37 degrees outside with no wind, Brady is going to arc the ball at a 42 degree angle with a velocity of 47 mph, meaning the ball was going to land precisely two feet beyond where you ran your route! DO IT AGAIN!"

At the risk of asking the obvious, why would a player who can't get the defense down be held out of practice? You want players to practice.

So the only answer people come up with is, he's being traded. Of course, Miguel points out that that bus passed a long time ago before he was given all this guaranteed money.

and furthermore, are media around for the whole practice?

No. That's why you will see "missing at the start of practice". Because there is a media portion of practice at the beginning and then they have to leave.

Well I would assume if he is not out there for the media portion then he was not out there at all.

BB does not seem like the type to let guys just walk on late. Look at what happened to Kelly when he did it : P

Brandon Browner did not participate in Thursday's practice as he was out with an ankle injury.

Ankle injury... Wow.

I really wanted to see him out there Sunday

The Seahawks ask their cornerbacks (Sherman, Browner, etc.) to do one thing: Go out and play. Belichick expects a whole lot more.
God this is why I hate the mediots. They ARE idiots. The Seahawk defense is just as complex as any other NFL defense. To characterize it as "they just let them play" is just not true. The fact is the fact is the Seahawks play a very complex match up zone as a base. Yet the media perception is that they are always in a press man. THAT'S the system that Browner comes from!!!!

If Howes comment on Browner is infuriating, the credence it seems to be generating is even more infuriating.

On Felger and the Mazzhole, I lasted 2 minutes because they all had their panties iny a bunch because BB took 7 seconds to answer a particularly stupid question from a fellow reporter. The question basically was " what made you decide to use Revis in man coverage against Cinci, when you had him in mostly zone coverages in the first 4 games."

After a long pause, BB basically told him, I don't know how to answer your question, since its entirely inacurate. That Revis has play both man and zone in every game this year. With that the comments started to be about how BB is just showing he's smarter than everyone and how how he has to show that no indivihdual player is bigger than the team.....and crap like that. After that they started to show how BB SHOULD have responded, and I shut it off.

THIS is the kind of bull crap we get from our reporters. BTW- There are a hundred reasons why Browner might have not been seen stretching. MOST of them are benign. Time will tell.

That stinks, ankle injury, hope it's not too bad but with him not even being present at practice doesn't look good for this week.

occam's razor

Well usually I would agree but Solder has been SO BAD this year. He is one of the worst starting LTs in the NFL right now going by the numbers. Maybe he is hurt or something but I wouldn't think we could not find someone to play better right now the way he is playing.

He started the year awful, agreed. But he's gotten better, and wasn't bad at all against Cincinnati. I suspect some continuity at LG should help him find his way again.

I was hoping he'd use the "i thought practise was on Pacific time" excuse. It usually works.

I am starting to think they really don't watch the games at all. They will ask each other did you watch and sometimes they will say...ya i turned it off at half to watch the As game or some BS yet know it all...

Well this is looking like a loss Sunday.

Stork out with likely a concussion, McCourty out because of bad ribs (wore the non-contact jersey), Chandler still limited, Hightower I doubt suits up, and Easley probably going to miss the game. Not to mention now Browner is a question which definitely hurts progression of getting into 100% game shape.
