Julian Edelman -- 83 of 86
Danny Amendola -- 61 of 86
Kenbrell Thompkins -- 47 of 86
Brandon LaFell- -- 38 of 86

In BB's meritocracy world where the best players play, it seems as if WR is the exception. How many more games are we going to give Amendola at WR2 as he continues to put up terrible WR2 production, dating back to week 2+ from last year?

I really don't see why he should be on the field more than KT.

It is the groin injury, it will only be 1 year since he injured it tomorrow, what do you expect from a player who is less than a year removed from a groin injury?:);):(:confused::cool::p:D:eek::oops:o_O

ON a more serious note – it was surprising for me when I saw the snap counts; I did not think Amendola was on the field for that many snaps. I do agree 3 catches for 16 yards is not the type of production you would expect. Thompkins was a better option yesterday, and we really missed Dobson especially when we were trying to mount a comeback.

I am not sure what is the disconnect between Brady and Amendola but since the failed game winning catch at the end of the Miami game in week 15 last season Amendola has a total of 9 catches in 5 games and he has only been targeted 17 times in those 5 games.

This says more about Brady's unwillingness to spread the ball around. He locked in on Gronk each and every time Gronk entered the game. Edelman is the binky.
BB is spending $9 mill on Lafell and DA this year....money that must signify these players are capable NFL pass catchers....but you wouldn't have known that today

Amendola was a horrible signing in comparison to accepting Welker's offer to match the Denver deal.

BUT I was still holding out hope Amendola would be a good player --

I didn't understand why the patriots would have him play the whole season with a groin injury at a supposed fraction of his normal abilities, when 2 months of rest could've put him back at 100%

But given yesterday's game, as healthy, falls in line with his typical production of last year, I'm now wondering if the groin injury was just made up.

Neither the Pats nor Amendola every talked about the injury, the media just assumed it.

And yesterday's game falls in line with his last season production; so maybe this is just the real Amendola -- that his Rams days were his peak.

Well, during the game, Amendola was open on several occasions and Brady just won't throw him the ball.

Remember that he had a decent catch & run called back on a LaFell penalty.
I do not think the play would have happened if LaFell did not clear out the defender as he did so the call was probably legit, one of the few legit calls against the Patriots.

The groin injury was a factor last season in weeks 2-9, beyond that it was exaggerated by most, the AFFCG was 19 weeks removed from the groin injury so to suggest that was a major factor in his not performing in that game is just a way to excuse his lack of performance.

Amendola entered 2013 a better WR than Edelman, however the injury early in the season opened a door for Edelman who took advantage of the reps and developed himself into an excellent WR. Now Edelman is a superior WR and this offense is not going to run through 2 players with similar playing styles and skill sets so as was the case with Edelman when Welker was here the amount of production Amendola provides is going to be limited.

At least he didn't get injured, you guys.

I would have said but Brady only throw his way 5 times but I did not even know he was on the field that much so I am guessing he was not open. and dose KT have naked pics of Brady or something ? 10 balls his way for 5 rec and 35 yards,

I have to say this the play calling was garbage on both sides of the ball they seen the OL was not protecting Brady so josh started calling more deep passes ? does he know its not 2007 and moss is not on the team anymore LOL all jokes aside you have Brady the king of the quick side line pass and screen pass bring in a extra OL men and call a few screens slow down the rush

Probably should have offered Emmanuel Sanders more money....

Considering the 1) money given 2) need at WR 3) fact that this allowed Sanders to go to the Broncos, Amendola might go down as the worst big $ free-agent signing of the Belichick era.

Nope. That honor still goes to Afailius Thomas, who was signed for more dollars, was a locker room cancer, and ultimately forced them to trade away a more useful player just to afford that albatross of a contract.

To get 77 yards & 0 TDs against that dumpster fire of a Colts D? Aside from the rave reviews from the commentators he didn't actually impact the game all that much.

Emmanuel Sanders is what he is, an average receiver who now gets to play on a high-octane offense. He's the binky of fantasy football players and fake analysts but he isn't really all that great. LaFell is a similar talent if a different skillset.

Brady only completed 29 passes yesterday. The Patriots have a lot of potential targets, and some days Amendola is going to catch 8 and some days Edelman is going to catch 3. It's just the way it goes. I'm not sure why Amendola is the go-to target for ire when he catches everything thrown to him, even if the number of targets is fairly low, while Brady forces balls to Gronk and LaFell looks incapable of getting open.

Well, if the first "trash Amendola" thread gets moved to the practice squad then try try again, at a minimum it gives those with an agenda more opportunity to say the same old things over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....................................................................................and over and over and over and over and over and over andover and over..............................................................................................................................and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.again.................

On the bright side at least this year it started week 1 instead of waiting three weeks.

I'm really looking forward to the same poster saying the same things again and again and again and again and again, it's awesome, nothing tiresome about it. Nothing beats repetition.

Please spare us the logical, sensible, and reasonable take on this, there are axes to grind.
