Black Monday: Which NFL Coaches Will Be Fired?

Is any team looking at Shaw, the coach from Stanford? With Harbaugh's success and Shaw continuing it, leading Stanford to the Rose Bowl, i think he'd be a good fit. I'm not a fan of Chip Kelly.

With Andy Reid being fired, that means Bill Belichick has the longest tenure of any current NFL coach (since 2000).

The second longest?

Marvin Lewis, who finally made the playoffs in consecutive years.

How a coach with a sub-.500 record has managed to keep his job that long is one of life's mysteries. 79-80-1 in the regular season, and 0-3 in the playoffs.

Coaches apparently are indeed hired to be fired:
- There are only three coaches that had that position before 2006 (BB, Lewis, Tom Coughlin).
- Only six that have been coaches with that team since before 2007 (those three plus Mike McCarthy, Gary Kubiak and Sean Payton).
- Only eight that have been with their team since before 2008 (those six plus Ken Whisenhunt and Mike Tomlin).

Pioli remains on the hot seat as the decision hasn't been made there yet and his review remains underway per multiple sources.

Rex has cancelled his 4:45 presser fueling speculation his review may remain underway...

The Jets have no shot at a competent GM unless Rex is gone or the decision is his. Polian wouldn't tap that mess with a ten foot pole...;)

Here's a link on Pioli:

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has confirmed that coach Romeo Crennel has been fired. According to Bill Williamson of ESPN.com, Hunt has said that “[n]o final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.”

Hunt also said that the entire football operation will remain under review.

Keep Chip Kelly out of the AFCE.

98.5 just reported that Ron Rivera has been fired. That would make 7 so far, I think.

I want Lovie coaching our secondary... like how Capers did for that year.

The Bears always seem to have a very good secondary.....

Our Dline is getting better, love our Lbing core, Talib and Dennard are both above average.....

I lose sleep over wanting a defense that simply shuts opposing offenses down!

Jones, Hightower and Dennard all helped quite a bit.... But I want MORE! BB!!!!

Oh, and on the coach firing thread... Norv Turner wasted tons and tons of talent...

I wonder what the record is for number of coaches fired.

Don't know, but this year could come close..

We already have:
Crennel, Shurmur, Reid, Smith, Gailey, Turner (not "Official" but he said he expects it), Ron Rivera (Panthers)

Other potentials:
Rex Ryan, , Mike Mularkey (Jaguars), Ken Whisenhunt (Cardinals), Jim Schwartz (Lions)
