Don't get me wrong I'm as excited to watch as anyone, but the more I think about this the more confused I am. Why did BB agree to this? It just kind of seems out of character to let the nation get such an inside look at him and his operations. ( not that we know how much is actually shown as it seems to focus more on the man himself) I mean, BB doesn't even let the madden franchise use his likeness in their video game, the only coach to refuse lol.
Ever read "Patriot Reign" by Michael Holley? How about "The Education of a Coach" by David Halberstam? Belichick has let down his guard before and allowed access to his inner workings, but only to those people he trusts.

I haven't read " the education of a coach" but I have read "patriot reign" as i really like Holley, in fact he is one of the few I care for on EEI. Thank you for bringing this up because I did forget how much access he was given toward players and coaches meetings and the like. But idk if I would compare Holley taking notes in those meetings and interviews to the meetings and all sixteen games of 2009 actually being recorded and shown for free on tv. (if you subscribe to nfln of course) I know describing the book as notetaking in a few meetings is extremely short selling it as it was a patriots fan dream( I really enjoyed reading the insight he had towards the teams scouting strategy) but I just think of the two as very different levels of exposure. Oh well maybe it's just me.....

Well, I'm looking forward to this. You can never take in enough knowledge from experts and proven leaders in their respective fields.

They are different books and, as you suggest, Holley's was more inside access to the team as well as BB in season. Halberstam and BB became friends and sort of neighbors on Nantucket and that book is much more about BB, his family, career, etc. I'm guessing you'd enjoy it.

Greatness pleases me.

Just don't give any secrets away, Brother Bill.

There'll be plenty of time for that after you've led us to another 3 ~ 5 Super Bowl Victories, this decade, and then retired in resplendent Glory.

I will be setting my DVR . . . although I won't exactly mind if it mysteriously stops working for a few minutes when that play comes up. . . .

That's because, for whatever reason, he's not a member of the NFL Coaches Club.

FWIW, my guess is that Belichick made filming contingent on his having veto power over the filming (that is, he could tell them to shut the cameras off).

Interesting, just curious hough, wouldn't EA be able to just go directly to BB then for licensing rather than the club? jW not sire how it works.

Re: Trailer for NFL Network's "Belichick: A Football Life"

I can honestly say that i love this man and im proud of him being the coach of the team i admire, cant wait !

Re: Trailer for NFL Network's "Belichick: A Football Life"

when I first saw this blurb on the patsfans links this morning I was ...

OH MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!

How the HeCK did BB keep it a secret for 2 FREAKING YEARS that he was miked for an ENTIRE SEASON!!!!

That is unfreaking believeable.

This guy is so long term thinking. I mean, this is obviously one of his responses to the whole taping-commissioner fiasco / black eye. This is a means for him to rehabilitate his image (outside of NE - not required in Patriots land for sure).

What a way to start a season. All hail BB. :youtheman:

Sweet can't wait. Looks like it will be like that series they did on the celtics last year only better yet with the greatest coach of all time :D .

Re: Trailer for NFL Network's "Belichick: A Football Life"

For the love of G-d, please stop writing "Can't wait!" That term should dissapear from your vocabulary. Anything that reminds me of that POS Bart Scott needs to go away.

I eagerly anticipate veiwing what is clearly going to be the NFL Networks greatest production of all time. :)

This is going to be awesome! I look forward to seeing this....

Can't wait! I never understood why Adalius Thomas was such a bust here after his terrific 2007 season.

If don't know for sure but it looks to me it's from the 2009 season. So looking forward to this! :singing:

Yes, it is from the 2009 season.

'A Football Life: Bill Belichick' Set to Show Whole New Side of Hall of Fame Coach on NFL Network - New England Patriots - NESN.com - Michael Hurley

Belichick agreed to wear a microphone for the entirety of the 2009 season for an NFL Films special, offering fans a look inside the greatness of one of football's best coaches in history.

"Bill Belichick doesn't only make history -- he studies it, he understands his place in it, and he appreciates our desire to capture it," NFL Films president Steve Sabol said in a statement. "Like Vince Lombardi's Packers in 1967, Belichick and the Patriots gave us access to his football life and what we created is a portrait of the coach, the father, the taskmaster and -- most importantly -- the man".

The show provides behind-the-scenes access to meetings with Tom Brady and the rest of the Patriots, boat trips on Nantucket and the coaching decisions that went into the infamous fourth-and-2 in Indianapolis back in '09. The preview for the show also showed Belichick get choked up when visiting the Giants' old locker room and meeting room, where he first made his name as an NFL coach.

Re: Trailer for NFL Network's "Belichick: A Football Life"

Is it weird that I now cant wait for the 15th even more than I cant wait for the 12th?

I think the NFL Net knows what kind of ratings this will draw and that is why it is on two seperate weeks instead of just showing the 2 hours at once. I am going to go out on a limb (I know its a reallly big limb) and say this will be the highest rated show in NFL Net history.
