I was re-watching the NFL network coverage of the draft when they were showing highlight of Brandon Graham in the senior bowl workout. The first highlight was him faking a tackle out of his jock and going right to the QB. Who was that jock-less tackle? Welch.

Good. Now both Brace and Welch want to twist my head off.

Anyway I am not too worried; BB and Dante have an incredible track record with lineman and apparently BB was surprised and excited to draft Welch where they did. Future road-grader?

Graham left numerous very good tackles searching for their undergarments. A tackle getting beat by Graham is something like a DB getting beat by Randy Moss in his prime.

Welch wasn't the best OT on the board at that pick, but Bill and Dante obviously saw potential. Most likely, he's not playing a down in the NFL for 2 or 3 years at the very earliest. I'm not worried.

For the Public Works Dept.? Sure, if that's what he wants to do after his days as an NFL turnstyle are over in about 3 years.

Maybe but he is a moose. He is 6-7 and 315 but he can probably carry a lot more weight. A potential road-grader.

I got some Thomas Welch trivia.....ok here goes

Who did Welch say was the top defender on the Florida defense?

Bingo. Here is the quote.

"While (DE Carlos) Dunlap seems to get all the pub on Florida's defensive line, No. 49 -- (DE Jermaine) Cunningham -- is really a great player. He's a tremendous athlete that gets after it every play. And he's a smart player, a guy that just doesn't make mistakes when you face him. Both of those guys are tremendous, but Cunningham is their top guy." (8/19/09)

Thomas Welch, Vanderbilt right tackle

To be clear, though, that quote was taken before the '09 season even began. I wonder what he would honestly say if asked the same question today.

Dunlap was awful last year while Cunningham was great, he'd probably say the same thing with even more confidence.
