I think you're missing my main point so I'll try to make it very clear and then I'm done with this thread.
I'm not against Brady or anyone else having a life but I will always make judgments on a person because of their actions: I WILL think of Roethlisberger is a scumbag for what he did/does, not that he "chases tail" but rather that he's a piece of crap who thinks he's entitled and doesn't seem to understand the word "no". I will think of Manning as being too eager for a dollar by doing stupid ads which make him look foolish (Oreos), I don't have any problem with him doing ads to earn a buck but please maintain your integrity, that being said I think some of the MasterCard ads have actually been pretty amusing.
I'm pissed about Brady for the WWF ad because 1) he's jumping on a political bandwagon and 2) I don't think he did the slightest bit of homework before doing so. I'm not upset that his politics might not agree with mine, if someone can back up their opinion with logic and solid information I'll respect them even if they don't agree with me, but I bet anything he can't back up this "climate change" nonsense at all, and when the proposed "solutions" to it will bring the US standard of living on par with Mexico's then Brady MUST take responsibility for supporting that.
First, a lot of fairly intelligent people are on board the Climate Change bandwagon that Giselle is. To flippantly dismiss their opinion seems a little absurd coming from someone, who like me, is spending his time posting on a Patriots message board.
I stay out of politics, the only things I know about climate change come from the only non-sports magazine I read, which is National Geographic. That is literally the extent of my knowledge on the subject, so I have absolutely no opinion on the matter, I have evolved into having a self-proclaimed apathy on anything political at this point. All I know is, I generally try to do what I deem best for the environment whether climate change is manmade or not. To me, the Climate Change argument is a red herring. Whether or not I have heart problems, I probably shouldn't be eating McD's every day. Likewise, we should probably be conserving electricity just because it makes sense.
That said, if the end result of this ad - or any ad with similar content - is people become more aware of their energy usage, why would you have a problem with that?
I think you are absolutely correct that his wife is probably into it and he's simply going along with it, that doesn't make him a good husband but rather a good servant. Last time I checked a man doesn't abdicate the right to have his own opinions when he gets married but if that's what's happening here it's part of a disturbing trend.
All I know about Tom Brady's view on the environment are in that video. I'm sure like the vast majority of the population, he probably has a reasonable concern about what's going on. I hate to break it to you, but you are in the minority opinion around here when it comes to climate change, whether you are right or not, I don't know. All I know is, I'm sure Giselle appreciates the support. And to Brady, who seems like a pretty secure guy, supporting his wife is more important to him than worrying about being called his wife's servant, or having his wife compared to Yoko Ono, or whatever it else that worries those less safe in their own skin. If Tom Brady were adamantly against being eco-friendly - and I highly doubt he is - then I bet he doesn't do this ad. But, if he like most people, has a reasonable view on the issue that being eco-friendly is logical, then he'd take it a step further and support something that is important to the person he's married to, particularly given he has the celebrity & power to be heard.
Honestly, the spot couldn't be any more innocuous.
Late in the season Brady told reporters that his various injuries weren't an issue affecting his play, that his biggest problem was getting enough sleep at night with his newborn son. Seeing how he walks her dog and goes grocery shopping for her while wearing that awful "TB12" hat why is it that he can't get a good nights sleep?
Might it have occurred to you that Tom Brady - like many fathers - enjoys spending time with his children, and that he will gladly exchange a few hours of sleep for spending time with something he fathered?
Does she have a job in which not being at your peak means you might suffer a crippling injury? No, but it seems he's still the one who gets up during the night and tends to their son. I don't like seeing a guy that I had all the respect for in the world become an empty-headed Hollywood celebrity who's balls are kept soundly in his wife's purse. I sincerely hope I'm over-reacting and reading into things too much, and that time will prove me wrong, I will happily eat crow if we see TFB emerge once again and take control of the NFL, I just don't see it happening while Brady is with Giselle, she's Yoko Ono 2.0.
You're going to make an attempt to know what Tom/Giselle's parenting dynamic is like based on one comment in an interview - to the point where you can say who is changing their kids diapers at night? That's kind of sick.
Who was Brady dating in 2007 when he shattered QB records and led the team to a perfect regular season and had them one fluke play away from the greatest sports season in modern time?
And lastly, why do you claim that Tebow did a political ad? I know that was the hype before the Superbowl but the ad was NOT about anything political, it was for "Focus on the Family", I checked out the website the day after the Superbowl and found that it's about helping people deal with issues, it's NOT about any type of legislation.
Did Tom Brady mention legislation in that spot? Was his spot political in nature? Did he support a certain political group? Are you honestly trying to tell me that abortion is not as polarizing an issue as the environment? What would you point be anyway? What does being a liberal have to do with performance on the field? You've already said it isn't an issue of free time - so its an issue of political views to you. I guess Tom Brady backing his wife on the issue of Climate Change - which most people would back him on too - is less of a distraction than Tim Tebow's right wing Christian views??
So let me summarize: you have a different lifestyle & political views than the NE Patriots quarterback - you are intolerant of his lifestyle and viewpoint, and this is of major concern for you - as you believe his lifestyle and political views will affect his ability to work hard and play football. Honestly, I don't think your POV could make any less sense to me. You saw Tom Brady do a spot which you disagreed with, and tried to tie it to his ability to play football. There is no correlation.
