Ravens not happy with officiating

I just came back form the game (actually about 90 minutes ago).. Baltimore played a great game.. But lets be honest here.. The Ravens lost the game because they didn't make the plays.. The refs called a tight game.. Its part of the NFL.. Not every nfl crew is the same, you need to know this.. Love Ray Lewis as a player but I gotta tell u, I lose a lot of respect for him when he whines..

To me, the game was never as close as the score indicated.. It was a wierd feeling but it felt like the pats were in control the entire game.. Even if Flaco connected on the last pass and they scored a TD, I always felt the Pats would move down and score.. to win the game.. Brady looked great after the QB sneak.. Looks like he's back!

"Unable to hit Brady" -- that's so funny. I guess they didn't see Super Bowl 42 either. Very traumatic to see how many times Brady was knocked hard that game.

Did we hear it in 07 AFTER THEY LOST?????

4 words for Ravens. SHUT THE FCK UP.

I am with you on this one , they should learn what the meaning of losing with dignity .

I agree that officials should be extra-protective below the knees, but in this case, Suggs didn't even touch Brady, and he is claiming that he was blocked downward and just extended his hands in case Brady hadn't thrown the ball. After all, Suggs couldn't see as he was on the ground.

As far as the blows to the head, I actually think that officials should arbitrarily judge whether the contact is incidental, as was the case in two called personal fouls today, because it's becoming ridiculous how defensive players have to be when approaching quarterbacks, and officials already have to arbitrarily judge most things anyway.

So your problem is with the rules and not the officiating?

BaltimoreFan06, with all due respect you are posting some nutty stuff...

Look at it this way - Flacco was being busted up all game, but do you think the officials were nearly as protective of Flacco as they were of Brady?
Flacco was being busted up all game because he held onto the ball too long against the blitz. It was actually pretty similar to how Brady was busted up in the Jets game without any roughing calls, so that pretty much blows your "extra special protection for Brady" theory out of the water.

He was very verbally abusive... could read his lips, think the official had enough and he seemed to go way over the line...

yea, the network itself showed that harbaugh was going OVERBOARD, with the ref....

never seen that before like that in a game, saw i thought the flag was pretty appropriate

the rest of the calls went either way....

This is fruitless.

I don't take issue with any of you guys, but arguing with Patriots fans about Tom Brady isn't going to be very productive.

Before letting this devolve any further, I'm out.

Thanks for your report , it s not about luck , it 's about making those plays when it counts , and we did more than the ravens.
I didn't like that head first from Reed against Wes welker knees.

WTF are you talking about? Suggs clearly hit Brady low.. And Suggs COULD see because he wasn't on the ground.

The officials don't have to arbitrarily judge most things. In fact, they made rule changes this year to take away arbitrary judgements, such as whether or not a player would have had both feet in when he gets pushed out.

BTW, on the play where Thomas was called for off-sides, Mason did NOT get both feet in. His left foot came down OOBs.. Yet it was called a catch.. So, stop trying to say that the calls favored the Pats because they didn't.

Didn't the Ravens complain about officiating after we beat them 2 years ago?

I think the Raven's day can be summed up by Ray Lewis celebrating thinking that the defense stopped the Pats when it was 4th and 1 at the end of the
1st quarter...

So, in other words, because you can't be bothered with reality and the truth, you are going to go worship your Ray "I'm a Liar" Lewis doll..

Maybe if you had some facts to support you and not just your pure conjecture you'd actually get somewhere.

The Ravens are never happy with the officiating when they lose. They're a really good team, but every, single time they lose (which isn't often), their immediate reaction is to complain about the officiating. They really are the official whine-bag team of the NFL.

It is what it is, arguing penalties gets you nothing but a 15yd penalty from the bench. lol. Harbs was livid.

I'm a fan of the new rules about the legs. QBs are defenseless when they set and throw.

As for hits to the head, if it's not that hard a hit, let it go ref.

Phil Simms said they have to throw a flag because you can't have the refs make arbitrary decisions about what constitutes "too hard." For me that's kind of the same as the "tuck rule" argument. It takes decision-making out of the ref's hands.

The Ravens always complain about the officiating when they lose... or so it would seem

I think that many players think that Brady is especially protected.

Look at it this way - Flacco was being busted up all game, but do you think the officials were nearly as protective of Flacco as they were of Brady?

I know that you're all going to say yes, but I, with my probable bias, do not think so.

I was under the impression that the officials just brought the chains out themselves.

Blows to the head, hits to the knees.

That's what you can't do.

Nor can you slam a QB down. All else is fair game. Brady was taken down a number of times as well.

Ding ding ding! That's the whole point. He was on the ground and went for Brady's knees. As of this year, that's illegal.

Maybe you're right and maybe you're wrong, but that's irrelevant to this discussion. The referees made the right call according to the rules of the NFL.

Harbaugh was yelling and screaming at the official on the sideline. I think he may have even swore at the official..

And Harbaugh continued even AFTER the flag was thrown.. I have to give the official credit for ignoring Harbaugh after the flag because Harbaugh was being an idiot, in all honesty..

he was yelling "bulls*** call into the officals ear a number of times. at least once it made it on the broadcast.

i agree there is a lot of qb protection in the rules but it plays the same for both sides. it seems to me lewis was more upset about the rule than the call. one reason for the toucjing helmet deal is that it makes it more clear when to call it. that way you wont have one team saying it should have been called on them when it was called on us because of a bad judgment call by the offical. this way it makes it easier to call.
