You mean like Brandon Lloyd?

I am a big fan of Lloyd, but he is not young and he is not tall.

The Pats run a lot of more precision timing routes that usually favor smaller receivers than bigger ones. Bigger receivers usually have more problems making the breaks and cuts in this offense.

It is a system thing.

The Pats have 5 Super Bowl appearances and three wins since 2000 with Brady breaking passing records and getting two MVP awards. Are you arguing their system since 2000 of not getting young big talented WRs is a failure?

That is true. The only tall young WR I can think of that the Pats have picked up since then was P.K. Sam in 2004, drafted in the 5th round, at 6'3" tall.

The tallest WR's in the BB era were Donald Hayes (age 27, 2002 season), J.J. Stokes (age 31, 2003 season), and Randy Moss (age 30, 2007-2010 seasons), all three at 6'4" tall.

And only Moss succeeded and that was because they revised the offense to fit his skill set. They will do that with an established future HOF WR, but aren't going to do that with a rookie.

We already have two tall receivers that we use a lot. We just call the Tight Ends. Quick twitch, precise guys (i.e. almost always smaller) are the guys that compliment them the best.

Nope but young receivers are allergic to being able to know this system like Tom does.

Now that BB has finally drafted a pass rusher early, is this what we have to look forward to on the message board? Threads to gripe about WR?

I understand where you're going with this (and your frustration), but I could not find any correlation whatsoever between productivity and either height, weight, age, or method of acquisition.

Let's take a look and see the receivers that the Pats have added in the Belichick era. Players that never made a roster were not included.
