I'm pretty sure he's scarred in that area. Something about hot grease, iirc.

He had his corneas burned in a restaurant accident in his teens so he suffers from severe light sensitivity.

Yeah, that. It's not cosmetic, but because of sensitvity.

He worked at a restaurant in Connecticut, and when hot grease splashed into his eyes one day, he lost his vision for weeks. His eyes have watered ever since and remain sensitive to light. As a result, he often wears sunglasses indoors or at night, and the lights in his office generally stay off.

Actually you need to take those words back. He suffered severe injury in both eyes when very hot oil splashed onto his face from a fryer at a fast food joint he worked at as a teenager. To this day he suffers from light sensitivity.

I can see how someone might make that assumption without knowing all the facts, but yeah, not deserved.

screw that ...he should wear a sign around his neck at press conferences so everyone knows his condition.......even one local reporter was saying "Not sure what is up with Coach Sparano tonight maybe he is not up to interviews" He could dim the lights in pressers if it is that severe......
