Default Rich Harden soon to be a Red Sox

If he passes his physical, he will be a Boston Red Sox pitcher. They are supposedly giving up Lars Anderson. There could be another player to be named, but I hope not. Lars is enough for an oft injured pitcher.

Looks like a ptbnl, hes a good pitcher when healthy, we only need him healthy for two months and either him or Bucholz to be healthy for the playoffs.

I know we already have Gonzales at first base but to me we gave up to much. Lars Anderson was a propsect I was starting to admire and think he could of been used as part of a trade next season. Not for some stop gap pitcher that clearly can't stay on the field. Hopefully I'm wrong and he performs great with this pulverising offense. I'd love to eat crow on this one.

Lars regressed lately and his stock has gone down. Not to mention he was blocked from getting to the bigs by an in his prime Adrian Gonzalez. There was no room for Lars on the Red Sox in the near future. If the Red Sox don't resign big Papi to DH next season, I'll be very surprised. And even if they didn't, they'd still have Lavarnway's big bat waiting to come up.

The deal is off.....I am glad because harden can't stay healthy.....Now it looks like Bedard may be our other option for pitching and between these two I like bedard better because I believe he MIGHT be able to stay healthy longer than harden would....Hopefully Theo surprises us all and is able to pull a solid, non injury-prone, pitcher from another team....

This deal would have been idiotic. Harden is an injury waiting to happen, and we're getting him to replace and injured pitcher...send Lars off in a package for a better player.

Agreed re the health issue on Harden, but as you imply, Bedard is far from a sure thing as well. With either guy, if they get one, at least it's a chance of another good starter in the rotation. (Though Bedard also has issues re. his make-up)

Maybe Kuroda winds up waiving his no-trade if the specific option of a team is presented to him. But otherwise, I'm not sure anybody good is out there. (Except Heath Bell, but I'm not sure how he'd fit and I'm doubtful we offer enticing enough prospects for SD to give up their draft picks.)

Bedard was showing signs of being a big time pitcher just a couple of years ago. I think if you put him in the right environment. "Say Boston" with the solid nucleus and coaching staff, we may get a real steal there. I'd much rather take a risk on someone who probably just needs some mechanics issues straightened out as opposed to someone who can't seem to play a full season.

Harden deal falls through. So maybe the Sox target Bedard now? Just 40m left until the trade deadline!!!
