What do ya'll feel about this whole Bonds/Aaron issue
This might have been posted before (and if it has sorry), but I am interested to hear what ya'll think about Bonds getting really close to breaking Hammerin Hanks record. I being a Braves fan (way more red sox, and always sox when they play them) think that Bonds should have a couple hundred of his homeruns stripped from him.

If it wasn't for the fact that steroids and HGH have real medical benefits for sick people, I'd like to strangle whoever invented them. Sure the easy, snap judgment is to say that Bonds, MacGuire etc are sleaze that need to be ignored in the record books for cheating; but there's lots of 'cheaters' in the HOF. The Hall's pitching ranks would be decimated if you took out all of the known 'spitballers.' Doctoring the ball is as much an advantage as a drug that makes you stronger imho. What about an outfielder who traps the ball out of sight of the ump and gets the out call? If he doesn't own up to trapping it, is he a cheater? or is he a guy who's just trying real hard to win? Bonds' story stinks to high heaven; but there's a small chance that its legit and that he's an innocent victim. All I know for certain is that the right thing to do isn't clear and I'm glad I ain't responsible for making the decision on dealing with this mess.

This whole thing will blow up eventually, MLB has no testicles and as a group are just standing idly by as this happens. He confessed to using them, and now they pander to the almighty dollar in the court of public opinion. A lot of credibility could be gained if they just stood up to him, and either suspended him or told him beforehand an asterisk would stand next to his record.

Selig can't really do anything. The player's union would fight for Bonds, and while the grand jury testimony is plenty for everyone to know he used (yet the hacks at ESPN still say he "allegedly used" or "we don't know if Barry Bonds used PEDs") it probably wouldn't hold up as cause for league action.
I don't want to see baseball celebrate it though. Bonds shouldn't be celebrated because he's a cheater, and the fact he's a jerk makes it easier hold the cheating against him.
This unfortunately leaves things where they currently are. Baseball can't really do anything to stop it, but doesn't really want any part of it. People will scream that Selig should just pick a course and go with it, but neither is really worth choosing. It's like an election, where sometimes the only way you can get out and still have any respect for yourself is to abstain from involvement. Who really wants to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwich?
The only real solution is to move on, and the only way to do that is to do something about HGH (and other newer PEDs) now. How these idiots (players and ownership) can recognize the damage caused by doing nothing about steroids while at the same time doing nothing about HGH baffles me. They act like the problem is fixed and behind them, while there is no good reason for me to believe that any player (even my beloved Ortiz) is not taking HGH/other new PEDs. It won't stop me from loving baseball, but it degrades the integrity and standing of the league.

The inaction denotes complicity, and agreement with what he did. I would rather they take a stand and loose, instead of looking like they have blinders on and are in agreement with the whole thing. The guys have no testicles, and the integrity of the sport is being challenged.

That's a good point, they could take a stand and lose and at least they took a stand.
Of course many others would question the integrity of a game where the commissioner takes unilateral actions he knows cannot stand up to a legal challenge. With Bonds's somehow assumed innocence (ESPN with their heads burried in the sand when it comes to the fact that Barry Bonds admitting to taking PEDs) Selig would get attacked for not using his powers in good faith, saying he had no evidence of PED use and did something anyway. He'd be painted as a vindictive commissioner with a personal agenda and would probably end up resigning due to the ensuing bruhaha.
It just doesn't seem worth it. Seemingly misusing power causes a whole lot of trouble.

Teams should just walk him every at bat once he gets within 1 HR of the record, like they did in Japan to the American who was going to break Sadaharu Oh's single season HR record.

Now that would be funny.
They could even get creative and do things like roll the ball to him.
