I wouldn't call Champ Bailey "one of the better CB's in the NFL" based on his play last weekend. I'd call him over the hill. Sad, but he's pretty much done.
As for BBDB, the Broncos played that all game against Flacco, and it didn't work that well. You need to get at least some pressure to disrupt his rhythm. That's not to say that you leave guys completely exposed - safety coverage will be critical, and I expect McCourty to be a key.
Kevin Fishbain of ProFootballWeekly had this analysis of how Flacco shredded the Pats' secondary earlier this season:
If the Pats can get Flacco rattled and confused, it's all over. He falls apart once that happens. It happens every time - the Houston and first Denver games this year, for example. The Jets game last year.
The Patriots also have a very different secondary than the one Flacco faced in the 2011-12 playoffs. Julian Edelman and Sterling Moore were cornerbacks that day. It's encouraging to look at the current secondary and think about Flacco airing it out the way he does - especially with real refs on the field.

BB should break out one of his defensive gameplans back when he would play Drew Bledsoe. Flacco IMO is the exact same guy. Tall, strong arm, slow feet, and slow thinker..
See 1994 playoff game against the browns. If I remember it right.....the Browns sent the entire defense up the middle on every down.
Flacco does not react well to pressure, he rushes throws and takes sacks. Defend the deep right sideline with a safety over the top and let the blitzing begin.
Flacco gets flustered when he gets pressured. Then he gets out of rhythm, and starts rushing passes, even when he has open guys. It's key to get him out of his comfort zone. Denver never did that. They let him sit back and throw long bombs way too much. The Pats need to bloody him, beat him up, get him on the run, get him out of his rhythm. Then Flacco will do the rest of the work for us.
The reality is Flacco never actually sustained a long 8/10/12 play drive that methodically moved the ball down the field.
Allowing a guy to get behind the defense with 30 seconds left is very, very bad against any QB.

If we consistently blow up with middle by sending either (Mayo, Spikes or Hightower) one or two of them at Flacco, you make Mr. Methodical Flacco even more slower. He'll cave. The key is to send more than 4, he'll fold up like a tent.

Flacco only threw 10 interceptions all season, only threw more than 1 INT in a game one time this season, ended up tied for 5th best INT% in the league, and hasn't thrown an interception in his last four games. Some of you are posting as if you think he's been Sanchezesque.

What did Houston do against the Ravens in October 2012?
Flacco threw two interceptions, was sacked in the end zone for a safety, went 21-43, and had a QBR of 42.5. They sacked Flacco four times. Oh, yeah, the Ravens got blown out 43-13.
Looks to me like you get after him early and often.
Yes. Houston matches up very well with the Ravens. JJ must strike fear in Flacco.
But we don't have Watt, and may not have Jones to harass and intimidate Flacco.

Yup. Flacco has a great deep ball and usually makes good decisions. He isn't the guy you want under center when your team is down 10, but he's more than capable of having a good, mistake-free game against the Patriots. It's not just "blitz him up the middle and he'll crumble", guys.
