I don't know if this has come into play in the locker room or amongst the coaches.
I remember BB and some of the other guys saying after Gronk broke his TE record last year that the players were aware of the record and that the team wanted Gronk to get that record.
Enter this weekend. As Brady is tied with Montana for the most play-off wins by a qb, I wonder is his team anxious to get that win for #12.
Yeah yeah, I get it, it is a team game, they should not need any more incentive, yadda yadda.
We are however talking about Brady eclipsing Joe Montana, one of the best if not the best playoff clutch qb's of all time. As far aas football goes, it is kind of a big deal.
It's kinda an under the radar storyline here but I hope this team, and definitely Brady himself as he is sometimes the issue, gives it that little extra effort this week.
Of course 12 does not talk a lot about it but it is no doubt in the back of his mind.
We all as fans are experiencing true greatness with TFB.

It's not like a TD record or passing record, it's a record for WINNING so I'm not sure that it represents another thing to play for, as you always are playing to win anyway.

I think the idea is the record adds even more motivation. I disagree with that premise though.
No no, i get that you are playing to win and the SB and all of that.
The 'next one' is the best ... right...
I hate bringing the a-clown 52 into this analogy but I am thinking with that being his last game at home, there was a little extra mustard and emotion.
There should not be, but i disagree that emotion does NOT play some role in playoff football.
If Spikes is playing with a little extra that game, to me that increases the percentage of that ball being on the ground.

We've never been distracted by excess motivation provided by records, with the possible exception of "playing for a place in history" at 19-0
Some people talked about that a little much, which seemed un-Patriots-like even at the time.
Now, I don't really think that was anything that played a big role, probably less than Tomase and lie-gate, to be honest, but it left a bad taste on top of a game that left an awful taste anyway.

Isn't there a quote about how stats are for losers...???
Yes, it's misused frequently. BB is a huge believer in the stats and numbers.

Nah, it's not like he would ever get Vinny Testaverde into a game to throw a late TD pass, keep feeding Gronkowski the ball on a meaningless game or let Doug Flutie dropkick a football for no apparent reason. Belichick pays absolutely NO attention to stats!!
