Washington was 3-6 going into their Bye Week and Shanny was supposedly going into "evaluation" mode. Now they're 9-6 and 1 win away from the NFC East title.

As for Minny, they are playing good ball. They kicked Houston around yesterday, and they could give Green Bay a battle next week. They may have to win to get in, as there's a good chance Chicago will beat Detroit. The absence of Percy Harvin doesn't seem to have hurt them, does it?

The Patriots have been competing for Super Bowls for over a decade. They are coming off of a loss to the 49ers and a very poorly played win over the lowly Jaguars. It should come as no surprise that there are people looking at the negatives.

As for Vereen, with the O-line struggling in the past couple of games, it's not surprising that Woodhead, the team's best pass-blocking RB, is getting the snaps over the team's worst pass-blocking RB.

Very poor effort at blocking on one play that I noticed.

Sorry, the "Brady doesn't care about football anymore" threads are the best. I mean these guys bring inconvertible evidence such as since Brady is married to a hot supermodel and the two seconds they flash to him on sideline sitting on the bench proves he just lacks the passion for football.

We had someone trolling the "Brady is in decline" stuff in the game thread yesterday. Does that count?

It was painful to read.

The Patriots have been overachievers the past two years. It doesn't have the talent to compensate for injuries, and it wins so much because it puts in 99% effort in the regular season and plays with terrific schemes to mask its deficiencies.

But in the playoffs a good team at 99% will not beat emotional, talented teams that play at 100%. It's what happened against the Giants in 2011 and the Ravens in 2012.

I love Vereen. Watched him at Cal and loved his versatility. Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember Shane being touted as one of the premier pass catching running backs in the country. We have seen glimpses
of his ability in space. I cannot for the life of me understand why we don't use him more in the passing game. I know he is a liability in pass protection. Why not send everyone deep and try dumping the ball off to him? Am I off base on this?

Because Woodhead is better in every way. Vereen isn't even faster, Woodhead ran a 4.33 and Vereen a 4.5.

Woodhead can block. Vereen can't. Brady trusts Woodhead. Not Vereen.

Woodhead has stud hands, can run/scamper between tackles and is in nearly every way superior to Vereen.
