1 ~ I'm still experimenting with a good NickName for my Super Binkie, Shane Vereen, I readily admit. "Ricochet" is my new term for the ability to redirect explosively in the open field...an Attribute which Vereen commands in Spades. As such, it's a NickName that I foresee'm growing into...But I am certainly open to suggestions!!

2 ~ Thanks for the Attaboy on "Uncanny" Danny WoodHead, of whom I raved considerably before he ever played a Down for us, some here may remember!!

I come from the Charlie O Finley & Chris Berman School of EveryBody Should Have a NickName!!

3 ~ I like Petrus, and I am considerably intrigued at the possibility that we have HornSwoggled the Giants a second time in 6 months!!

A ~ The Core Power on the Run Blocking needs a lot of work, mind you.

B ~ He's actually kind of Raw, and his Dexterity ~ Hand Work ~ consequently needs Work, but I've kind'f gotten the idea that that's just the kind'f guy that Dante The Great likes to work with.

C ~ His Core Strength in Pass Blocking is absolutely outstanding.

D ~ If you've got exceptional Core Strength for "Defense" ~ and Petrus most certainly does ~ and if you've got a superior Work Ethic ~ and Petrus most certainly does!! ~ then Dante The Great can help you develop Core Power...for "Attacking."

E ~ I like his Fluidity and Lateral Agility, too, which is essential to success at O Guard, in my Book. He's a former Tight End and Full Back, too, which speaks to'is fundamental Athleticism.

Yeah, I believe that Mad Bill just BamBoozled the Giants a good one.

Good Eye, Brother Mike.
OK, then, Mitch (Mad Mitch? Mitch the Mad Axeman? Mitch "Chateau" -- no, that one's way too obscure) Petrus is now officially a binkie. May the good Lord help him!

I'm with you on the nicknames principle -- everyone should have one.

It's wonderful that Edelman has shown such amazing progress this last couple of games. When you play the game at his size (or Welker's or Woodhead's) you're going to take some very rough, tough dirty hits. Credit them all -- they've taken them and they just bounce back. They are three tough little b*ggers.

So could we start with a better nickname for Edelman, please? I don't want to go on just shouting JOOLEEE!!! at the screen the next time he makes a great play.

1 ~ Those notions are a damned fine start for Brother Mo...I'm in no hurry to lay NomenClature on'm, myself, but I applaud your efforts, Sir. "Malignant Mike"?? "Mauling Mike Petrus"?? There are possibilities...

2 ~ "Jumpin" Julian Edelman?? "JitterBug" Julian Edelman?? I've already given "Jettin'" to Jeffrey Demps!!

Julian "The Knife" Edelman, or "Jack Knife" Julian Edelman come to mind.

His ability to slice a defense and cut upfield and putting the hurt on the other team seems pretty special to me.

Of course, since the Jaguars have a "Pocket Hurcules", perhaps Julian could our "Pocket Knife" ?

It's early morning. I need more coffee.

OG Brian Waters

Pre-Season: Tremendous attention to keeping his locker neat and tidy. Never soiled his home, away or practice jerseys. Tremendous commitment to generating threads and posts on message boards. Excelled at getting Coach Bill Belichick to say "We can only coach the players that are here."

What I Saw:

A large man eating nachos on his couch surrounded by his children.
Would make a tremendous mall Santa Claus.
A man depressed by the fact that the best photo of him on the Internet includes the little man on the way down with a big voice, Gary Tanguay.

Nickname test: is this something that you can shout at the screen when the guy makes a play? Better, is it something that a thousand people can shout together in a stadium?

Edelman: it's the baby face that does it. He looks so harmless ... but he is one tough hombre.

Yes, Jack Knife Julian is great.

For me, the one with the knife analogy is Ridley. I can't say how much I've enjoyed watching him use pace and strength to cut straight through what seems to be a crowded infield. Steven "the Sabre" Ridley?
