The Jets allow their front office run what is going on the field far too much. For example, I think sticking with Sanchez is a business decision since he is getting paid far too much next year to bench this year. You bench Sanchez and it is too hard to go back to him next year and you can't have your back up QB eating up $13 million of cap space and $8 million in salary (his salary is guaranteed which makes him uncutable).
Platooning of Slauson and Ducasse is probably 100% a business decision, not a football decision. I think I read somewhere Slauson has a playing time bonus. I think platooning him will make it difficult to make on a team that desperately needs to conserve cap dollars. Also, Ducasse is a second round pick and Tannebaum probably feels that the Jets need to make him productive no matter what. Lastly, Slauson is a free agent and with cap problems and a lot of free agents on the team already, they want to force Ducasse to become the starting guard next year.
You read Jason's articles over at nyjetscap.com and he points out other examples in some of his articles where business decisions impact on the field decisions. Obviously, it looks like Tebow was 100% a marketing decision rather than a football decision.
This is why I think the Jets may be screwed for a number of years. Woody Johnson wants to sell PSLs and Tannebaum screwed up their cap (yes, Felger the cap is crap) by giving overvalued top heavy contracts to overrated players (Ferguson, Harris) and guaranteeing money to even more overrated players to free up cap space (Scott, Pace, Sanchez) to keep building. In three short years, it has decimated the talent of their team.

Can you imagine Coach Scar talking about himself the way this amateur does?????
Dear Lord, PLEASE make this guy the next Jets HC - - he's just as stupid, just as egotistical and just as comical as Rex. Just with a New York accent. It would be another fun 3-4 years!!!!!!!

Geez, it gets even better. Evidently he also threw the TE's and THEIR coach under the bus!!!!
"......He expressed his frustration with the media in general, saying that what's actually happening is seldom reported and that an offensive line coach takes undue criticism for the amount of sacks a quarterback takes, for example.
"Have you ever heard 'those tight ends didn't block well today? Those tight ends had a s----- year blocking? I mean come on," he said."
Thats wh you get for making a gopher your GM, the good news is that Woody hired Tanny, if he fires them he'll probably promote the next gopher to GM, as long as Woody is there the Jets will probably be in trouble, we're so lucky to have Bob Kraft running this organization, crap roills downhill.
The funny thing is that guys like Rah!Rah! will blame the media for creating this Jets' circus, but what teams has a position coach tell the media that the front office is making football decisions and forcing the coaching staff to play untalented players or a player (Bart Scott) rip the fans to the media?
For all those critics of Belichick who say that Belichick being adversarial to the media and forcing the players and coaches not to say anything to the media provides no competitive advantage only needs to look at the Jets. Rex's policy of letting his staff and players say whatever they want creates huge controversies when they are struggling like they are. The Jets desperately need to put their heads down and try in what looks to be a futile attempt to win out. Yet, they are dealing with a self-induced media circus of Bart Scott and a position coach.

As Felger says, Woody Johnson is Spauling Smails. His only qualifications to own a team is that he was born to the right family. He has never done anything with his life to show he can manage his checkbook nevermind a billion dollar football team. He did start a hedge fund company, but by all accounts he was just a money man and he never ran it. He also is active in the charity world which means he pays a lot of money to attend galas and art shows.
Unless Johnson installs a real football person as president of the company, I expect him to continue to make horrible business decisions. I disagree that Tanny is a gopher. He is a pretty good capologist, but he absolutely sucks at personnel decisions. He doesn't know how to evaluate talent. That is a horrible character trait for a GM.
