Question Odds of Brian Waters showing up?

The Patriots are apparently playing hardball with Waters:

https://twitter.com/GregABedard/stat...28797036724225

Quote:
Got the official word on Waters. He will not be a free agent in '13 if he fails to show this season. His contract is tolled, or frozen.
In other words, he's in the same boat as Mankins would have been if he failed to report in 2010: still one full season away from FA.

Since the trade deadline has passed, the only way Waters will be playing for a team in TX next year is if he comes to NE for the remainder of this season.

So, of course, Jason Whitlock says this:

Quote:
3. I still can’t believe Patriots guard Brian Waters is going to sit out the entire season.

I expect Waters to play next season for the Cowboys or Texans, teams in his home state.

is Whitlock the same clown who wrote about "sipping chilled grey goose with Ty Law in the early morning hours" after he had signed with KC a few years ago?

Glad to hear PAts are playing hardball here - they should.

Waters has made enough money to last him and his family a lifetime,if he was so truly still in love with the sport he would have come to the Pats TC and played this year.

I think Waters is tired of the rigors of the NFL and is ready to move on to life without football.

Besides, what has our OL shown so far that makes any of us care anymore if he shows up again or not?....Donald Thomas has been a pleasant surprise for us and others on the roster have helped considerably.

I am A LOT more confident in pass protection than I was 8 weeks ago.

Well nothing is below none. But between slim and none, you have powerball winning lottery ticket odd.

The only way i see him changing his mind is the allure of a superbowl ring and that window is quickly closign on him being effective/helping the team for the home run.

I hope they're fining him as well as playing hard ball.

Lost all respect for the guy when he agreed a pay rise then demanded more, hope he doesn't show up either - the line is doing fine without him.

I think we can be sure that the Patriots will be looking at this situation with the usual clinical business sense.

I think Waters is basically retired from the NFL - and it would set a dangerous precedent for the Patriots should they allow Waters to renege on his contract.

They're not "letting him renege," per se: that would be them releasing him from his contract.

Wouldn't mind trading his rights to Houston or Dallas to recoup some of the draft picks we've lost in recent days (and years).
