I hardly consider someone coming to visit the Pats to be the Pats chasing them. You act like they can't be in contact with more than one FA at a time.
Yes, that's exactly it. The team that has signed nobody, unless they finalized the deal with their own ST player, is all about multitasking with the better players in the league.
Come on, now. They're bargain shopping already. That's fine, but let's not be foolish as fans enough to buy into Steve Gregory.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH

To be fair, it's not like there are splashes to be made at safety. Landry's probably the best one left, and the Pats are apparently currently pursuing him.
I'm not going to get in depth about this, so I'll just leave it as my personal opinion. You can check the Charger forums. Here's an OP from one of them:

The departure of Gregory into the free agency pool has left the bolts with a hole to fill. While Gregory represented the lowest level of competence, finding an upgrade should not be difficult...

I'm not saying Gregory is any great shakes, but come on. Bringing him in for a visit doesn't mean they're prioritizing him.
Per a league source, four teams are interested in the sixth pick in the 2007 draft, whose rookie deal with the Redskins expired Tuesday. The candidates are the Jets, Eagles, Lions, and Patriots.

Isn't Landry a SS? If you've seen him recently, he's almost the size of a LB now. I'm sure a Chung/Landry backfield would be great against the run but struggle against the pass.
If we had anything at safety last year to pair with Chung then I would not like this so much but we had nothing. Also you responded to my statement about two players by pointing out the weakness' of one while ignoring thats the others strength.
Not sure how anyone can sit there and not think that Landry is an upgrade over Ihedibo and seeing as we had a CB filling the coverage safety role not sure how anyone can sit there and say that Gregory is not an upgrade?
Bottom line is we are kicking the tires on a couple of players who are better than what we had at their positions last year.
Juxtapose that with what would have made everyone happy replacing either Carter or Anderson with Williams would have made everyone happy yet Williams may or may not put up double digits sacks but certainly would cost ten times that of Carter or Anderson last year.
Dont get me wrong I would have been as siked as anyone to get Mario but that doesnt mean I cant be happy about plugging what I considered our biggest hole even if that plug is average it is still better that the seive of a plug we had last year.
