Didn't realize Brady throwing to Patten and Givens won us those Super Bowls...

Never claimed it was the reason for the wins. Read first, post second....

Mario Williams would be nice but can't imagine the Pats paying him what he will command on the open market.

Calais Campbell may be a cheaper alternative. Any thoughts on him? He's listed at 6'8", 310 lbs. Had 8 sacks last year and he has the ability to block kicks. Also appears to be a solid citizen on and off the field. Not sure he would come east but I would hope the Pats at least kick the tires and give a look.

The other spot the Pats really could use some help at on D is the safety spot. What a mess the safety play was this year, especially while Chung was out. Not much available on FA market. The aforementioned Branch is one option. What do people think about Michael Griffin from Tennessee?

It's being reported that the eagles will franchise desean Jackson and then shop him. He could be a moss like acquisition where you get him for a year and then go from there. He's the type of speedy playmaker they need. A couple of others I'd like to see them look at are cliff avril, who can stand up in a 3-4 and play in a 4-3, Brandon Carr and Early Doucet.

Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd (or wide receiver du jour) will be higher priorities in unrestricted free agency.

Michael Griffin is overrated and inconsistent. 2012 NFL Draft for free safety needs.

Desean Jackson is a headcase with a bad attitude.

The New England Patriots drafted Shawn Crable ahead of Cliff Avril in the 3rd round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Brandon Carr will most likely cost big bucks.

I thought Early Doucet was a slot receiver?

Early Doucet? Besides being second or 3rd fiddle to Fitz, I don't know much about him. What makes you like him? What could he bring to the table here? (this is not sarcasm I am actually asking)

Doucet in addition to Jackson, they need more than one wideout. They need one gamechanger like DJax, Lloyd, Bows, Colston or VJax along with another solid receiver like doucet, cotchery, royal or josh Morgan.

so, you're going to pay malcontent d-jax franchise money and hope to sign him to a 100m contract?

They need a great corner like Carr and would come cheaper than grimes, Finnegan or even Carlos Rogers. The Patriots have the money to pay Carr and just because they drafted crable ahead of avril doesn't mean they won't go after him, avril is a different player now and is a cheaper alternative to the Mario Williams or Calais Campbell dream everyone wants.
