Default Patriots have some tough NFL history to beat in 2012

It has been 18 years since the last team to win a Super Bowl made it back to the game the following year....that was the 1994 Buffalo Bills who went on to lose again and their 4th overall SB loss in a row.

The last team in NFL history to have ever lost a Super Bowl and then came back to win the following year is 39 years ago,you have to go far,far back in time to 1973 as the Undefeated 73 Dolphins were the last team to do it and the ONLY team I believe to ever accomplish this feat.

It's a curse that's hard to beat and if you are expecting the team to simply get some defense and plow back into the Super Bowl in 2012.....think again, the odds are stacked heavily against it.

I don't believe in any of that crap, look at all the history the giants and even our own team defied to get here.

What do you mean you don't believe this crap?....it's history, how can you not believe the truth?

I know we are all bummed about this loss but the bottom line is it's beyond extremely rare to get back to the SB and win it after you lost it.

In order for this long time streak to end the Pats need to spend some serious money on top free agents with and not with the team and hit well in the draft on defense.

Nonsense. You're only saying that because nobody ever has (in a while).

Yes it will be tough.

I don't care if we go 8-8, I want to see some IMPROVEMENT on the D side of the ball. 3rd and 7 shouldn't be an automatic first down but with this team it is. This has been happeining for years.

Maybe besides for Brady it wasn't a revenge game. However, now it can be since we wont be purging the core of this D like we did in 08.

All rubbish, forget superstitions if the Pats are good enough next season as this one just past then they'll be there and don't forget this team can only get better in the off season with the draft and FA signings i'm sure BB will make.

My biggest worry isn't about this loss,it's about the window of opportunity closing rapidly as Brady hits 35 and has a defense that is inconsistent.

It's time to go dead serious in FA for a can't miss all pro and hit the jackpot in the draft.

The window hasn't closed yet but it's cracking in certain places.

This is a different kinda team you cant apply those stats to them...........especially when they made it here with that patchwork wr core, and wtf defense.

One other interesting point: how will the Giants deal with the fact that the last six SB teams have played the Pats in the regular season, and they won't do so until 2016?
