Default The logic being used is astounding.

I don't have a problem with people picking the Giants to win. I really don't. Any given Sunday, matchups, and all that. But the logic that people are using to make their picks is just mind-numbingly idiotic.

"The Giants have won five straight. They have the momentum."
NE has won ten straight.

"Defense wins championships."
NE gave up 3+ points less a game.

"The Giants D is more likely to stop that Pats O than the other way around."
See previous point, and then factor in that NE scored over 8 points more a game.

"The Giants are a more complete team."
NE point differential: 173; NY point differential: -6.
NE turnovers: +17; NY +7.

"The Giants have a fearsome pass rush, and will overwhelm NE's line."
NY had 48 sacks (NE only had 40). NE has played Denver (41 sacks) and Baltimore (48, tied with NY) and given up a whopping total of one sack.

"Bradshaw and Jacobs will run all over NE."
NY had the worst rushing attack in the league. The worst in both total yards and ypc. NE held Baltimore's #10 rushing offense to 3.7 yds/carry, and held Denver's #1 rushing offense to 3.6 yds/carry.

"The Giants are healthy."
For once, so is NE.

"Eli was great against the 49ers, and Brady was terrible against Baltimore."
Brady threw two balls that took incredible efforts to pick off; Eli threw two balls that SF actually knocked away from itself.

Brady led five scoring drives for 23 points (none off of turnovers) against Baltimore in regulation; Eli led two scoring drives for 10 points including OT, and was gifted two short fields by gaffes by an idiotic backup PR that led to 10 points, including the gamewinner.

I mean, come on.

The Giants are really being built up to being bigger than they are. the bottom line is that if the patriots can stop the giants pass rush, the patriots will probably win, Eli will not win a shootout against Tom.

the player im most concerned about is Brandon Jacobs on the Giants Tbh, especially if the Patriots fall behind.

I think it's easy to point in the direction of a team who had already won the previous match up earlier in the season. While missing a couple key players on offense. Not to mention that the Giants have beaten some of the most formidable opponents in the stronger of the two conferences. There are lot's of surface reasons for picking the Giants, it's almost obvious. What struck me about this game was the opening line having NE favored by 3pts. So as the saying goes, "a fool and his money soon be parted".

You forgot one:

"The Patriots were lucky to beat the Ravens because of a Ravens' special teams mistake"

And the Giants weren't lucky because of a 49ers' special team mistake? And I am not counting the punt return fumble in overtime. The Giants had a 29 yard TD drive off of "muffed" catch by the back up punt returner, Kyle Williams, where the ball was bouncing on the ground and grazed his knee where he shouldn't have been anywhere near the ball at that point.

And let's not forget the the 49ers stripped the ball of Bradshaw just outside of the 2 minute warning in field goal range, but the refs blew the whistle which negated that turnover.

Oh yeah, another one:

"Manning is clutch at the end of the game"

The Giants' drive stalled on the Giants' side of the field on their last drive in regulation. Also, in overtime he threw a gimme pick down the field that was broken up because two of the 49ers' defenders ran into each other trying to catch the ball.

If I were in the media I would go in the same direction ... the story line(s) are much better favoring the Giants ... does not bother me one bit ... it's all bloviation anyways.

I'm not just talking about the media, though. I've actually heard this stuff in person.

How about this one that I've heard...

NY deserves to be in the SB NE doesn't.

Regular season records:
NE 13-3
NY 9-7

NE #1 seed in the AFC Giants #4 in NFC.

NY had to win it's last game of the season to make it in the playoffs.
