Default Is Nate Jones a Belichick type player?

sure seems so. versatile and smart

From Reiss and a linked Denver article...

Quote:
He is the first-team nickel corner. And a second-team safety. He's on nearly every special-teams play, a gunner on punt coverage and a key component on the kickoff units. He's Nate Jones, the Broncos' jack-of-all-trades.

"He brings the kind of versatility that you look for," coach Josh McDaniels said. "We always talk about, the more you can do, the better opportunity you have to make the team and the more you can help us on game day."

And his off-the-field versatility might be even more impressive:

Jones was a finance major at Rutgers and has continued to be involved in business throughout his seven-year NFL career. He spent the 2005 offseason working for Merrill Lynch and completed the NFL's business management program at the Harvard Business School in 2006.

He seems like a Belichick type player. The real question is this: Is he talented enough to make the impact in the secondary that we need? Never saw much of him so I can't comment. From what I've heard, it sounds like that answer is probably not. But we'll see when he gets on the field...

He definitely has the right size for BB proto-typical DB.

Agree with your assessment, but why was he on the street and not in an NFL uniform???

Jones is competing for reps with Edelman at nickel and Brown at backup safety. He seems likely to be good enough to get significant reps on Special Teams.

Too bad that another Belichick-type player, Randall Gay, seems to still suffer from post-concussion
symptoms; otherwise, I ass-ume that he would've been on a roster this year.

And at this point in time, I would rather have another ex-Pat, Geno Wilson, on the 53 than the
less-than-useless Sergio Brown. I never thought I'd say this, but: I miss James Sanders.

As for Nathan Jones, I suppose that he's an upgrade over Adams; but another professional DB
would be an upgrade over Tyquan Underwood, who has no business whatsoever collecting
a check from Bob Kraft.

Depends. If by "impact in the secondary that we need" you mean "an impact commensurate to that provided by our dearly departed Phillip Adams," I would say most likely yes.
