Default 7/1--first attempt at a 2008 roster

Well, here goes nothing.

I had two rules in making this--(1) only players on the roster as of 7/1/08 count; (2) I wanted to get all of this year's rookies on the team.

* = players who I expect will play primarily on ST, at least to start the season.

QB [3]: Brady, Gutierrez, O'Connell [Cassel traded]
RB [3]: Maroney, Morris, Faulk
FB [2]: Evans, Eckel*
WR [6]: Moss, Welker, Jackson, Gaffney, Washington, Slater*
TE [3]: Watson, D. Thomas, Spach
OL [9]: Light, Mankins, Koppen, Neal, O'Callaghan; Hochstein, Kaczur, Britt, Yates

DL [6]: Seymour, Wilfork, Warren; Green, L. Smith, Wright
LB [9]: A. Thomas, Bruschi, Hobson, Vrabel; Mayo, Crable, Woods, Alexander*, Ruud*
DB [9]: Harrison, Meriweather, Hobbs, Webster; Sanders, Williams, Wheatley, Wilhite*, Ventrone*

ST [3]: Gostkowski, Hanson, Paxton

I think Fernando Bryant will make the team. Besides that, I am in agreement.

looks good. i think Seau will come back that will bump someone, i could see Hochstein getting cut hes played poor even for a backup, maybe Ruud, or one of the bubble CB's.

If you did this before yesterday would Andrews have made the list?

I think he was probably 50-50 in my mind as soon as the Pats drafted Slater. Now, obviously, I think the odds are slim to none.

If Ventrone makes the 53 my head will explode. I also don't think there is anyway Eckle is on the opening day roster unless there is an injury.

Cassel traded to who? - Is there a scenerio you see that shows that a team is desperate enough to pick him up - a guy that has shown squat so far? - No way

If anything O'Connell will be cut but I see the same squad as last year at QB,Maybe Guiterrez gets the nod over Cassel but thats it.

Patrick Cobbs and Brandon Gorin have both been traded for conditional picks in recent years - one never showed anything, the other had shown he was not very good. Even a marginal back up quarterback can net a sixth round draft pick if someone is interested.

I don't know how you can feel Cassell being traded is laughable but that the team's most recent third round pick is more likely to not make the team out of training camp.

The only real objection I have is that Webster makes the team.

Everything else is a matter of special teamers/UDFAs, and I think it's far too early in the summer to argue Redd over Ventrone with any sort of vehemence.
