I think there is an opportunity here. He's in the middle of a holdout, probably wants Michael Roos type money, which isn't bad for a top-flight left tackle. In my opinion, the Pats should make a move for him.
Peters is in my opinion a top three tackle in the league, is 26 and a far superior athlete than Matt Light. Getting Peters would enable the team to move Light to the right side, upgrading LT by a decent margin and upgrading RT by a large one.
Obviously, the snag is the cost of the trade. There, I am blanked. Maybe someone could offer a solution?

"Peters also missed all 13 of the team's voluntary sessions over the past month. Teammates said Peters is unhappy with his contract. He has three years left on his current deal and is scheduled to make a base salary of $3.25 million this season"----from yahoo
i really don't like players who sign a contract, and then with 3 yrs left, start *****ing about how the other linemen make more money....not very patriot like. I'd pass, if it were up to me. besides, our o-line had a good year, just not a good finish.
There's a difference between Jason Peters and Travis Henry.
So, are you opposed to any moves of this type? Please, educate me...but be sure to read Ask PFW first just so you can acquire an opinion.
I'm not opposed to any moves of this type. I'm simply opposed to a new thread whenever any player is released or is rumored to be on the way out -- because most of the time when these threads are created, the Patriots either show no interest or show interest but lose out. Then posters start to get upset with the front office for not getting the player.

i kinda agree with you. how about we have a sticky for released players from other teams. then we wont have a million threads asking if we want to sign homer simpson who's just been released from the tallahassee warthogs....

The cost of the trade? Two years ago, Peters was a fourth-string tight end. But since he's shown show much upside, you're talking about some pretty good draft pick action. And then, of course, a new contract. You're paying twice.

I'd much rather see hundreds of threads about this than hundreds of threads about spygate or the like. At least this way, the threads are about different players instead of the same topic over and over again.

Here's a better idea: how about we just don't post any threads and lurk around an inactive forum? That way, people can stop *****ing and moaning about what types of threads are posted.

Agree 100%. Most of the time you can hardly find a football thread. Even if the Pats have no interest, you learn about personnel.
And you know, if no one replies, they drop like any other thread.
