According to Kevin Lynch's 49er's blog on SFGate.com (Lynch was a 49er beat writer for 7 years, and still does the blog on SFGate, so he is like their Mike Reiss), the Pats and 49ers have shown interest in Spikes:

Two teams have shown interest and one of them is New England. If no team steps up with a better offer, Spikes would likely sign with San Francisco and be the team's "ted" linebacker next season.
Granted, it isn't much. It's a long offseason though, so I figured I'd share any crumb, no matter how small.

Now the question is, are we legit in our intrest or is this just some agents smoke screen to try to get the 49ers to bid higher.

Is we could hook Takeo up to the rejuvenation machine for a year, that would bridge us until Ray Ray and James Lauranaitis.

I'm pretty sure that agents are smart enough to not float a team's name unless the team said it was OK to or had actually shown interest. It's not like agents function in a vaccuum, if they piss off a team by mentioning them when they have no business to be doing so they could hamper negotiations with their present and future clients and that team.
