He has not practiced yet so it probably means he has not passed the conditioning test yet. As soon as that is done, he can start practicing anytime.

sounds like nothing worth stressing over, unless I am confused about the restrictions of PUP....

There's no concerns with this. If a player can't practice from the start, you place him on the active PUP so he's eligible to be on it during the season. Once he's practiced for even a day, the PUP is no longer an option.

As midwestpatsfan said, he can start practicing at any time. This is just the smart, safe thing to do. If for whatever reason Ellis had a setback before beginning to practice, the team is covered.

In an interview with Ellis he said he was just doing some extra conditioning work before he got out to practice.......smart move to not rush him.....get him in top football shape and then stick him into practice.....no rush....

That's five DL on PUP, right?

Ellis, Brace, Deaderick, Brace, Pryor.

With 90 man rosters and limited practices, there are only so many reps to go around. I think the idea may be to let some bubble guys get more reps until they thin out the d-line a bit.

I think you miscounted there but is Pryor on the PUP?

According to Bedard's piece, its just Brace, Deaderick and now Ellis.
