Default Tom Brady's contract and its effect on Pats ability to sign other players

FA BC binky gone. He will be a damn good player in 2-3 years.

TFB- Just watched Colin Cowherd who in my opinion is the best sports tell it like is guy on television and radio just mentioned Brady's contract. TFB's contract is a HUGE reason why we cannot go out and sign a big time pass rusher.

A. Do you think Brady would be willing to restructure his contract to accommodate his team's salary cap and help the Pats sign better role players?
B. He has more $$$ than GOD and his wife and himself are set financially.
C. A caller made a GREAT point by saying that Michael Jordan had one of the cheapest salaries on the Bulls b/c Jordan knew he was making Bank on endorsements.
D. I don't want us to screw Brady. but him having and intentionaqlly taking less $$$ will help this team WIN and WIN some more titles

do you see him restructuring his deal?

IIRC, Jordan made over $30 mill most years from the bulls. The "Bird rule" allowed Chi to do this.

Regardless of 12s contract, ehat pass rusher is worth big $$$?

Brady's deal is not any impediment to the cap. It is in fact quite cap friendly. His cap his this year is $13M. Tom has consistently signed below market deals to help this team. This deal is no different. By extending him last season the team got to account for a chunk of his new money - several million I believe - in the uncapped year.

There is already a Herlich to the Giants thread in case you hadn't noticed...

According to Miguel, Brady's cap # this year is only $13 mill.

$13 mill of a $120m cap?

Cowherd, as usual, is lost. I used to enjoy listening to him, but now he seems to just talk about what will fire up the listeners. Sometimes, I swear he comes up with his show topics will commuting.

What a moronic argument by Cowherd. The Steelers and Colts both dump a huge amount of money into the QB position and they have great pass rushes.

Sadly, Cowherd is drunk on his own arrogance.

Sometimes, if you actually listen, he contradicts himself on the same topic. He also is quite harsh on callers who go against his opinion. Cowherd needs to do more prep and research and stick to sports. This Howard Stern of sports wannabe gig is getting OLD.

Ideally, Mad Dog Radio will get a quality show to go head to head with him.

A $13M cap, for what Brady gives us, is a bargain. Restructuring won't happen because a) he signed the contract less than a year ago, and b) his cap hits jump up to the $17-18M range after this year anyways. It would just screw the team in the future, when we're not screwed at all now.

For perspective, I'm fairly certain that Brady's cap hit this year is a few million less than Eli Manning's, and, will likely be similar to Mark Sanchez's even after Sanchez restructures.
