Default Pats shouldn't wait until the 20th to franchise Moss

The longer they wait, the more potentially upset Moss can be with being franchised. The longer they wait, the more likely potential suitors or numbers being leaked from other parties start popping up out of nowhere, false or otherwise, even though thats highly unlikely cause its still waaay too early for that and teams arent allowed to begin even talking about him publicly. But still, the reality is Moss may start convincing himself he isnt getting tagged if the 20th rolls around and nothing has happened. The more convincing he does on that end, the more negative his reaction could potentially be should he get tagged like many expect.

Of course, my concerns exist assuming things: 1)like most tags, there isnt much dialogue with the player prior to doing it and 2)that Moss is preference is to get a contract extension rather than the tag.

He'll get his extension if he wants to be a part of this team, if not he's going to washington for their first in my opinion.

Put the number on there for that year. And the next year we start all over again everybody is at the same point."

Makes sense, with all of the rumors that Snyder is going after Chad Johnson, I'm sure that he'd prefer Moss. That's also probably the only FO stupid enough to pay the franchise penalty to get someone that they're going to have to immediately hand a near-nine-figure contract.

Remember: it's TWO first-rounders for a franchise player.

I think the Pats will use all the time allotted to them before franchising

Moss or re-signing him. This is what negotiating a contract is about.

The Pats will use the franchise tag as a last resort. Even if the tag is

applied, the parties involved have 5 more months to reach an agreement.

If we could receive 2 first-rounders for Moss, I would make that deal in a heartbeat. That $7.84M can be better spent elsewhere.

I think it's ridiculous to think Moss will find out in the media that he wiill get franchised. Why am I saying this? Just because we are told he is franchised on the 20th doesn't mean he wasn't told a week ago.

If there is anything about the Pats it's that we hear about things alot later than they actually happen.

The two greatest scoring offenses in NFL history say "hello".

18-0 before the collapse of the offensive line says "Hello again".

Oh, look, the 15-1 regular season Vikings that scored 27 points in an NFCCG loss say "Still here, How're you doing?".

Both want to know when you got so jaded that you began to think that losing in the conference championship game or Super Bowl was somehow a repudiation of a team.
