i think its all gamesmanship. Who knows , maybe rivers practiced all week just not in front of the media. Norv is just playing games with all this. He knew all along rivers was going to start.

Actually, its very selfish for him to think about playing because its clear that he's not even close to 60% never mind 100%. The best chance San Diego has is for Volek to start.

I don't think Norv has said anything yet, Rivers is the one who said he'll start. Norv will probably wait until Rivers gets a chance to warmup and run around the field a little before he announces anything.

not sure how much say norv has. Their GM said yesterday it was rivers's call.

exactly...good to see a pats fan who realizes an opposing player can't win regardless of what they do

we still got indy fans who weren't impressed by rivers last week, and those were the same people saying they had the best pass defense in the nfl

Exactly. And we will call him a baby when he leaves the game early, while Brady would play even if his lips fell off.

The difference is that Brady calmly calls audibles while Manning flaps like a chicken, barks 11 code words, and makes sure every camera in the stadium has documented his once-in-a-generation (and patented, I believe) ability to see a defensive formation and change the play. Both have the same effect, but Manning transcends measurable human intellect while Brady merely chooses a different play.

Along the same lines, on ESPN's open they said Gates' toe was a lot more painful this week than last so I'm expecting Rivers and Tomlinson to play but Gates not to.

that may not be so bad, gives manu a shot to show what he can do (we all like manu, he's been very dependable since we picked him up last year)

the part where this will hurt is obviously when we go two TE, no idea how chandler is at blocking, manu's a better blocker than gates, he's just obviously not the down the field playmaker.

most non sd fans aren't aware that gates has been playing hurt for a couple months now (bad back), he's been dropping alot of passes and his play forced rivers to go away from him as the #1 receiving option, which like eli with shockey, has allowed PR to open up his game more.

i'd rather see Rivers playing, injured or not.

Seeing Volek playing in a Championship game just doesn't seem right.
